Legend already has usb tether other features of 2.2 are nice tho , hope we get it at some point in the near future.

Overall speed is supposed to be greatly improved.

And 2.2 runs much faster than 2.1 + the browser should work much quicker than 2.1 because of the "push" technology which will be used to pre-load websites.

Keep an eye on the following thread where many many users are contacting HTC direct in order to try to clarify whether the Legend will get 2.2. Hoping that the number of requests the HTC receive will show them just how important the Legend is and deserves a 2.2 update!

I asked HTC about this and had a reply as follows:
"Dear Mr Ellis, Thank you for your enquiry about your HTC Legend update. We are considering a Froyo upgrade for some models of our phones, but we are still analysing the impact this will have on the user experience. We will announce a full list of phones and dates once we are closer to launching the upgrades. Best regards, OlivierM HTC"

So best bet is to go to HTC - Support - Customer Service - Support via e-Mail and ask yourself that way, if they get loads of people asking, they should update it, threat to leave HTC forever, that always gets them.

This was my only reservation for jumping from iPhone to Android... the lack updates. And google denies there's any fragmentation... the greedy manufacturers and service providers hold the updates back to make us buy new phones.

I had emailed customer service last evening and I got a response within a span of 6 hours (quick response). The Tech had stated that

Your right Bro, the email means that they have tried the version on Legend and its all fine....but they will release the version once the HTC sense is build accordingly.

Personally I don't really care as I'm happy with my phone at the moment and any new, free, features are a bonus.

I'll certainly not be throwing my toys out of the pram if it doesn't happen...

"Good Morning Thank you for contacting HTC At the moment we dont have official date of the relase for the new update but it is suitable for your device and soon or later it will be relased for Legend Regards Piotr HTC "

Now we just have to deal with the 'normal' delay for significant version updates.

If I am correct, v 2.2 most important feature is the ability to store apps to the SD card. Currently, we have to make do with the phone's insanely small 384MB RAM.
