When will you upgrade (from Nexus One)?

I was talking about this to some co-workers. There are 4 of us with Nexus Ones and we all love them.

All this talk of phones coming out with 1.5ghz processors, I realize it won't be long before >2ghz phones come out.

I figured I would need two things to happen before ditching my N1.

1. 2.0ghz or higher.
2. Android 3.0

What about you all?

probably when google releases the nexus 2 most likely. but i hope to use nexus1 at least through then end pf 2011. but realistically i expect them to release something sooner.

I bought the Nexus One as a phone I could see myself with for years to come. It fulfills every single one of my needs and just keeps getting better. It's also the sexiest looking phone I have ever seen

The 1ghz Snapdragon will handle the Gingerbread update just fine and I cant think of two better customer service oriented companies I want to support than T-Mobile and Google.

Even if Google comes out with a "Nexus 2" , or any other crazy phone in the future, wont have the freedom that the Nexus One has. Google will shut down it's webstore so the new phone's in the future will be under the control of the carriers.

No chance the Nexus Two or any other phone in the future has features like built in tethering like the N1 does since the carriers will strip out certain features they want to control the way that Verizon will with the droid when it eventually gets the update (or at the very least charge an extra $30/mo for it)

I see no reason for now to even want to upgrade. This phone will handle gingerbread and probably an update after that as well with no issues. They only real thing that would call me on a future phone would be a front facing camera

I'm planning to keep my Nexus one for years to come ^_^ I believe that a 1ghz processor can take any update Google throws at it I mean, my laptop a couple of years ago ran on a 1ghz processor...so I don't think the Nexus will be too outdated when all the new 1.5ghz phones come out It fulfils all of my needs (and much much more). So unless my needs change, I'm going to be keeping this baby! lol

I change phones whenever I see a real benefit or the one in hand dies. Right now there is no phone (that I am aware of) in the pipeline that offers a real benefit. A dual core might open an app faster but it already seems instant to me. A fraction of a second I cant even prove exists without test equipment is meaningless to me.

We will see what happens when winmo hits. I had hoped to replace my work phone with this one but android is flat inadequate when it comes time to go to work. That means I am running two phones now so unless something changes with android I'll be picking up a winmo phone. Who knows, I hate being locked in but if that phone works pretty slick it isnt hard to imagine the N1 working its way to the back of the cupboard where the chargers, old phones, mp3 players, etc. reside, unloved and forgotten.

when I see a phone that grabs me like the Nexus one did. Feature wise I would quite like a larger screen as the things I use my phone for would benefit from it. I was liking the sound of the motorolla shadow until I heard it had moto blur and was only 720mhz on the cpu.

Im going to go to an O2 store to hold the Dell streak to see what thats like but I wouldnt entertain buying that until I knew it could be rooted with a mod like cyanogens or unless I knew it was going to get froyo very soon.

What ever I get I'd like a larger screen, the stock vanilla version of android, and either the same or faster cpu/ram etc

It depends if Google stop, as it looks like they will, selling the phones direct. I love the fact that I get the latest android update on release, and have free reign to play with features I want to, not the ones the network want me to play with.

The hardware is still top notch, 6 months after release so it's gonna have a lot of life in it yet. I just have to stop doing what I did at the weekend - woke up with a big ding in the top corner and the casing separated, and no memory of event. Clicked it back in place - no problems (touch wood)

LOL! I am just kidding. I would really like my next phone to have a screen that can be seen in sunlight, a front facing camera (if there is software to support it, right now skype is only for verizon phones), longer battery life (I personally think that battery technology is lagging way behind), and much high specs (not going to jump ship for a 1.2-1.5 ghz processor, I am looking for 2.0 or higher). Also I would look again for a phone that I can purchase off contract, I like being free!

I hope that Google can work with someone like Best Buy to sell their unlocked phones even after they close down the web store. I don't want to go back to a carrier subsidized phone that is locked down, I want to be able to use Google's OS as Google envisioned it.

But... whenever I do get a new phone, I will most likely be looking at the phones my carrier provides and see if there is some way I can sell that phone to purchase my next unlocked phone.

The Super AMOLED is patented by Samsung. So I'm thinking only Samsung phones will have the Super AMOLED unless it charges a royalty fee for other manufacturere to use its technology.

I'm a little worried that Google won't release an N2, like it did the N1.
Fully unlocked and untethered to the chains of a carrier, with updates coming straight from Google.

The N1 is my first Android phone, so I'm setting a precedent for myself to now buy unlock/unbranded phone. Before I bought the phone I read up on the Android phones that were available though my carrier (Rogers) and OMG...the debaticles that Rogers put all of the Dream/Magic Android users though were beyond nighmarish. 911 calls supposedly not working for months, the fix that caused phones to not be able to use data, disabling the ability to root and almost a year before Rogers updated Magic to 1.6 drove me away from carrier branded Android phones.

I want an unbranded/unlock N2, even if Google isn't going to sell it. I hope its retail partners won't F' up the next 'Google' phone, if there is one that is XD

I'll probably upgrade when the next iPhone comes out. I really like the Android OS but I think the iPhone is just so much smoother, the apps (even the ones that have Android versions as well) are much nicer and the UI is 100x better. I'm sure I'll be back to Android one day but we'll see.

The Nexus One does everything I could ever ask of it and more, and with the increase in speed from Android 2.2 I think it gives the phone even more life for me!

Something with xenon flash would be nice, tv-out for emulators on a big screen, MAYBE a full keyboard with a real Dpad on the left, like the Nokia N97 (for gaming), improved multitouch screen, has to be unbranded, all with super fast gubbins running it!

Absolutely love my N1 though!

Honestly, i am one of those that will buy up to 7 new phones a year (average is 4 for me) and I have had this phone for a while now, and even with the new devices coming out and the ones that are out now, I have no desire to change phones. Especially after playing with some of them.

So far, the only real thing anyone has done to try and top the N1 is install an 8MP Camera, Larger Screen and SUPER AMOLED...

NONE of those are anything that would make me even THINK about jumping ship.

Also, look at some of these devices... Ummm... UGLY... I mean, WOW UGLY!!

No thanks, even with the N1 being out as long as it has been, it's still a head turner and with Froyo on it, it's a speed demon as well!!
