Behold II fails to fulfill Android 2.0 promise

Canada - did you mean USA? (not sure but maybe BH2 is sold in both) And I quite don't get it when you talk about backing us up - when? We didn't have any word from Samsung so we can't sue them or something. They always had same problems as we do, even worse since it's us who have drakaz and any (small) hopes for 2.x and their ROM situation was very bad for a long time since it was security locked and there were no devs.

i meant usa, im an idiot. its for tmobile
they have BH_user who converts drakaz roms. they also have modified versions of our standard builds and recovery.
apart from memory and cdma its the same phone

we were complaining for almost a year lol. i just think if they had noticed the behold users should have voiced their worries at the time we were to make more of an impact.
weve more or less stopped complaining now due to samsungs blind ignorance but at the time if we had masses from the states also kicking up a fuss then we may have got somewhere

Oh I don't blame them at all. It's worse for them because the adverts for the Behold specifically promised 2.

I wish Samsung would be brave enough to admit they cannot put 2 onto the Galaxy/Behold. I suppose if they did that every other manufacturer would laugh at them and users would never trust them; but then how is that any different to the current situation. Everyone is thinking it, even if it's not official. Shame though, cos if they were brave and made it open source there's a chance an outside developer could finish what is obviously beyond their software team. Somebody at the top should look at their programming team and make some changes.

BTW the guy is BH_MAN (Eugene_373) in fact. They were complaining all the time like us, since the story for both phones was the same, even worse for them since for the long time ROMs were killed on their device; then the bootloader has been unlocked and ROM fun started so they were happier because of the change for a moment; then came 2.x and it started all over again as here, and just now they've gone desperate. And as you pointed out, Samsung is blindly ignorant so it wouldn't help us too much. I personally hoped that if anybody can force Samsung to make any updates it could be tmobile, happened at the end that they prefer to swap all of the beholds to newer phones, well that's their choice (I can't believe Samsung couldn't make this @#%$ing update if they wanted to). There was even an 2.x update in works according to BH_MANs inside sources (well could be as bullshit as our rumors about 2.x), happened to be just 1.6 in the end (just like for us). And their situation is even worse because they somehow needed Touchwiz sources for some drivers (wtf?) to be working on behold, so they couldn't use their kernel sources to build AOSP ROM, and they had problems using the galaxy kernel sources.

it was never properly advertised as a 2.1 upgrade
there was a promo video that went on the samsung website that was removed pretty quick, i think it was prior to behold sales

cant remember. either way, no i dnt blame them as we know exactly what they are feeling.

Nope, that promo video was there till BH_MAN raised the issue about the update where they were going to get 1.6 instead of 2.1 and then behold2 users kept enquiring about the update to tmobile and samsung US.
And tada, they removed the video and twittered that they are getting 1.6.

im an idiot.
Oh man, imma gonna quote you on that! :D

I think Samsung should give all of us one of these
[dead link]
to make up for the headache we've gone through as beta-testers of Android for them.
I wouldn't want anything with a Samsung label on it, free or otherwise. :(
I'm slowly burning my last Samsung purchase ... I'm just happy it's just a stack of cd-rw's! :p

He didn't log into his forums since the end of March... well we all knew he's a very busy man, so probably he didn't have the time to continue his mod, it may be that he just gave up. No one knows, you know how hard it was to contact with him. I hope he's fine.

Yes, I hope too... Petty he gave up. He and Drakaz was our best shot to see 2.x on Galaxy.

In some way two of them were competitors. They pushed each other further.

Now when he is gone I think Drakaz lost motive to finish GAOSP.

I hope I am wrong, but time will tell...

You're wrong, drakaz doesn't have much time to do that but he's really working - now at the 3D issue in GAOSP, yet it turns out to be very difficult to fix. And although musty was the one who got him motivated at the very beginning of GAOSP (since he got over rild issue... then just stopped working saying he has lost motivation to continue the mod...), drakaz didn't need another motivation than the community which needs his help... even if there's no other dev to help him to make our 2.x dream real. That's definitely not the end of Galaxy dev yet!
