iPhone fans are trying so hard.

3. It plays Flash

First off, according to our own informal polling, a plurality of iPhone OS users consider the lack of Flash support a feature rather than a hindrance. 27% of people we polled said they were outright glad the iPad doesn't have Flash support; another 21% didn't care if it had Flash or not. Only 10% of poll respondents said they weren't buying an iPad specifically because of its lack of Flash support.

Yea, that's a legit sample...a web poll on an Apple blog.

I'm so sick of this Android VS iPhone debate. Both platforms are appealing, and people have their reasons for going either way. I don't really care about what each platform may have over the other. They're both wildly appealing in their current state. It all comes down to preference. This whole argument is played, and such a waste of time/bandwidth. Android is coming of age very quickly, and that's awesome. But saying one OS is superior to the other is stupid. They're separate operating systems, they're both perfectly capable of carrying out day-to-day functions, they both have their own features, and their own way of doing things. Neither one is superior in my opinion.

Won't even bother reading the article. Simple fact is iPhone's a niche product that has it's club members and it's pointless to try to get them to give up their membership.

When there are tons of Evos around with better features and on a better network with growing 4G access, these comparisons will turn into "wait until our 4G iPhone comes."

I think people that are Apple fanboys aren't any different then Android fanboys. Both sides are ignorant and should realize that both Apple and Google benefit from each other. Without the iPhone, Android wouldn't be where it is today and vice versa. Competition is good and it's good that some people prefer one over the other. It's funny when people say "Haha stupid fanbois!!! So stupid cuz they don't see that Androidz is so much better!" You make yourself sound just as bad by hating on people with Apple products as people with Apple products (fanboys as you say) hate on other people.

It's good to see a voice of reason among the wolfpack mentality. I'm a 3GS owner who will be trying out the EVO on June 4th.

Good post, Steve. People on both sides tend to drink a lot of Kool-Aid.

Incidentally, I'm not too far from you in Upper Marlboro, MD.

article said:
Let's also not pretend that Apple loves AT&T so much that they could never, ever see themselves going with another US carrier like Verizon. In fact, as of June 1 AT&T will raise its early termination fees for smartphone users from $175 to $325.

Ok, I'm curious. When a carrier changes the terms in the middle of your contract, you have the option to decline those changes and have a free "out", do you not? So, any at&t customer that wanted to get out of his/her contract could do so without an ETF on June 1? I'm fairly certain this is correct.

The logic in that article was epic.

That said, it's TUAW, what do you expect? Some of the stuff that gets said in this forum is equally ridiculous. It just comes with the territory of sites that are geared to product x. This isn't the mentality of your casual user, just your frothing-at-the-mouth gadget nerd who has aligned with a particular product.
