moment worth it?

Make sure you actually get good hands on with the moment before switching. I went to a sprint store and actally had a good 20 mins with one not tethered down by a cable. The phone felt cheap and flimsy plus it has no trackball. Plus no Sense UI and remember that it is a Samsung (looking at their track record with the Instinct, s30 and HD) i will not be making the switch.

But the choice is ultimately up to you

so far i like everything about the phone... except for the fact that the battery life is complete shit... if you go on the net, text, etc... it lasts like 1-2 hrs... that is ridiculous in my book... i might actually switch to a hero because of this issue

hero has its own battery problems too, fixable with a few new software replacements but at least fixable, i just cant stand the virtual keyboard. I need to send emails out quickly and this keyboard just lags..horrible

you come in a hero forum asking if you should switch to the moment?

if (maybe you have) you go into the moment forum and ask this question, what do you think the response will be?

now i feel you on the physical keyboard. if that is really important to you then the moment is something you should definitely get. the hero is a much nicer build overall and has more features overall but if you just need the physical kb then nothing else matters. battery life on the moment will probably be less given the hungrier processor and that nice screen, but an extended battery from sedio can cure that.

bottom line, YOU sir SHOULD get the moment. i base that solely on your need for a physical kb...

i thought the moment had more features and better overall than the hero?

i currently have a Hero, i like it but i get fed-up with the virtual keyboard. I was looking at the moment today and it seems the same but has a qwerty board. should i make the switch?? my 30days are not up!

If you want a keyboard and it has more features and better overall performance then the Hero it should be a no brainer for you.

I personally love the onscreen keyboard and I couldn't live without sense.

It suprises me that so many people seem to have problems with keyboard lag on the Hero???

Mine is lightening fast! Even if I type a whole lot of nothing hitting random keys as fast as I can, I can't get ahead of it?

I use the compact querty. Since I came from the BB 8130, it seems second nature to me.

To do a test, I checked the full querty keyboard and typing as fast as I can, it still keeps up.

Anyway...FYI

p.s. I think my phone lagged when I had a task manager. The whole thing seemed slower and the battery life seemed to be worse. Removed and all is good.

Sense UI allows the hero to have seven homescreens. It also enables the user to customize their phone to their liking. It also allows you to have multi-touch. The standard Android OS doesn't support pinch to zoom. HTC sense UI allows the hero to have this capabilities.
Sense is NOT the only thing that allows users to have 7 home screens. aHome, Open Home and at least two others will allow for multiple home screens as well.

I have 7 home screens on my Moment. I have the flipclock weather widget on my Moment. I have an arc on the bottom of my Moment (doesnt do anything but open the app tray, but its there). Ive pretty much customized my phone into a Hero with a keyboard. Minus a few widgets I never used anyways.

It does give you multitouch and Flash lite on the phone. I do miss the multitouch and its unclear if 2.0 will fix this issue or not. Some say it does, some say it doesnt. I do think I read it will support double tap to zoom though. So thats a big plus. Flash 10.1 should be available for android in 2010, so not an issue there either.

As far as the keyboard goes, there have been times (maybe 25%) where the keyboard is behind on what i type. It does, however, eventually catch up and gets every letter I hit.

The question that may have to be asked to everyone who says they have trouble with the VKB is, "have you actually calibrated it?". If you go into the little "Sproket" icon on the KB, there is a menu to calibrate the KB to fit your typing style.

Personally, the keyboard blows my mind. There are times I honestly think it's reading my mind on what I want to write, because I am nowhere close to what I should be typing, and it gets every word correct.
