Sirius XM App Released

I just downloaded the app and it's working so far. We have xm in the car already, but this may be useful when I'm not in the car (working out or we're out shopping and the hubs wants to listen to a baseball game;)) I listen to the Oprah and Rosie O channels so we'll see how it works. Not sure if I want to pay an extra $3/ mo for it. We don't have the premium package.

it says for Premium Online Service on the web site. I have been a Sirius user for 5+ years. I have always had an online listening account, I put in my login info and it told me I needed to upgrade to a Premium account.

EDIT: ahh it dawned on me, you must be listening as you are trying the free trial?

When this app came out for the iTouch, I had a Sirius/XM support specialist tell me that there are/were two levels for the online listening. He said that they used to have online listening that was usable on a desktop for all users as part of the regular plans (no extra cost). He said that at the start of 2010, they were doing away with that for all users that sign new contracts. Existing users would keep it until their contracts expired.

He then told me that even if you are able to listen to the Sirius/XM on a desktop, you would not be able to after the seven day trial on a mobile device. He said that you would then need to get the $2.99 premium service for mobile devices.

Since I am no longer able to listen on a desktop without the premium price, I am not going to pay it. I have last.fm, Pandora, etc and that is good enough for me. I mainly only listen to Sirius in my car anyways.

Yup. Right under the log in box, there is the "free trial" button. That's what I clicked on and was able to connect that way. I only get the 7 days free. We'll see if I even use the service much during the 7 days. Like I said, we already have a device in the car and we have the boom box for the house.
