Well I was finally able to come up with secure way to mount my Eris to my Road bike, although I believe it is secure enough to work on a mountain bike to but I will have to try that later.

I had been looking for a while to find a way to attach my Eris to my bike without the use of bulky devices like the universal one from the bike store. I finally saw the Shell / Holster Combo at Verizon and decided to give it a try.

I purchased the Combo from Verizon for $23. Here is a link to the Combo.

I have attached pictures. This Combo seems very durable so I think it is a good fit for this job. It says the phone is supposed to be faced in, but the holster doesn't appear to be causing any problems with the phone its just a snug fit. Which is what I want anyway.

This is a pic of the holster only, I drilled 2 holes at the bottom of it to run a Zip tie for a more secure attachment.

I will of course trim the zip ties but this is from the side. The clip on this holster is very firmly attached to the rest of the holster. I tried to pull it off and it was unwilling to budge.

The final Look!

The hole unit barely moves when the Zip ties are pulled tight. I am going on my first ride with this setup later today or tomorrow when it stops raining.

Hope this helps everyone!:D

That's pretty slick. Do you think there would be any negative effects from vibrations and uneven roads? I would be concerned about damage.

Well, I have only gone on 3 rides with it and it is mounted to a road bike atm.... but I haven't had any issues yet. I dont think it would be any worse than say running with it in your pocket. The phone doesn't move really at all. It doesn't move in the mount, the mount may move a little if the zip ties aren't tightened good though.

I also use Mytracks and it works great. I go biking and go Geocaching at the same time and with this mount it make using both applications great. Keeps track of my route and I can track my distance to different geocaches at the same time.

Nicely done sheridan13! I have mine set up with an armband but I like your idea better. I have the same holster but never use it. This would be perfect.

Edit: I think I'll drill a hole in the back of holster for the speaker. I play music on it while I ride but don't like wearing headphones. It's actually loud enough to hear, even on rough trails.

THANKS!... I may also have to look into drilling a hole for the speaker. Nice idea!

Good for you. I've lost 35 lbs in the last year (now 209 lbs) but my torture of choice is running. I do a 5k every month.

I hate running with a passion that I could not completely get across here... Although I was informed a few years ago that I have high arches which would make running difficult if not adjusted for... and that was AFTER four years in the Marines.

That being said, I've lost about 5 pounds so far, but I'm benched this week due to rain... BAH!

You guys should try out Run Keeper on the android market. It's free, and tracks a ton of different aspects of your run/bike and other modes of excercise. Best part is that it uploads your sessions to it's website for you to break down through charts, like for instance it shows how much elevation I biked, so I can see that my 5th mile was slower due to a lot of incline. Also if you're into facebook it will automatically post it on your page if you wish. Great application, makes great maps.

I like SportyPal - it gives you all the info you need and shows your rides on a map (online) where you can also see the speed you went during any particular point of the ride by mousing over that section. (very cool).

I tried Endomondo but it was very glitchy...it would show my top speed as 600 miles an hour sometimes.

Sportypal works for biking, running, etc...

I don't work for them or know anyone there I just like the app.
