iPhone not coming to verizon? Don't hold out on D. Incredible!! (Article inside)

Not interested in any of the Archos tablets?

Not do derail this thread, though I don't know if there's much else to say in the first place, but I've had my fair share of Archos through the fiasco that was the Archos 605wifi...I mean, it was nice while it worked, 5 months later it starts acting weird, battery lasts like 2 hrs for video :/ 6ish for audio...basically useless as far as portability is concerned.

The unit I got as a replacement was refurb, which is fine, but it was defective too, buttons didn't work or anything, kind of a pain...

Something sounds awfully familiar about this cycle...

Oh right I remember now. It goes like this:

1. Some random-ass blogger is like, "OMG LOL I shoudl start a rumor lolzor"

2. He writes the following on his blog, "ZOMG guyzzzzzzzzzzzzz My best friends dad's buddy's sister's niece's husband works for Apple and he totally said that maybe possibly kinda maybe there will eventually be an iPhone on Verizon on June 26th!!!!!!!!!! ZOMGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGG kthx please digg/tweet/props me!!!!!!!!!!

3. enGadget and other stupid blogs repost, lending the rumor credit. They also are like "hey Apple give us an UNBRANDED prototype so we can fuel the fire!"

4. Steve Jobs is like, "*I am not a crook*Here you go, but there will be "legal action" so it looks legit"

5. Turns out everything was false after all, which we should've known because come on, don't we learn about rumors after the seventh time? Plus, the iPhone that was "found in a bar" didn't say Verizon.

6. It just generates more buzz for a phoen that is mostly "fashion" not "function"

7. Steve Jobs wins.

Fair enough...I don't know much about them except they've been around for a while.

Back on topic, I would have thought for sure iPhone on VZ would be a done deal...not that I'm looking to get one, but if Jobs is going to leave, I would think that he would try to get that done first.

Why? I mean this genuinely, because outside of hype I just don't see what the appeal would be over the various Android devices.

I think its because the iPhone is an established platform, widely supported by 3rd parties, and apps make things "easy". I was recently in line at KFC, and there was a 60+ year old grand mother, "talking shop" to a 12 year old girl, about their iPhones. The way they were going at it, you'd think they were two guys talking about tuning their Camaros.

That's because you look at things through your eyes. Look at it through the eyes of an average user.

His wife and plenty of women(men also to be fair) are not tech savy.

Sometimes it not about having everything under the sun and then some. Just look at the wii vs. ps3/360. Doesn't even have the greatest hardware. 720p? what's that. Nintendo is giving what people want in a game system entertainment.

Apple does the same with the Iphone. its providing what people are looking for in a smartphone and simple packaging. Apple perfected the iphone to be simple and straight forward for the masses. Flash, closed environment. none of that stuff matters to them.

personally I want the iphone to come to verizon. I won't be getting it since there's no google voice app. I don't like having to use the web verison. But Iphone coming to verizon brings out competition from other handset makers. Motorola, HTC knows the Iphone is gonna sell. What's the best way to get people to buy your product and not a competitors? Lower the price.

So I potentially end up paying less for a phone I want. Which is a win in my book.

Trivia: the average number of games a Wii owners has is one. It's about six for 360/PS3 owners. This tells me that people who buy the Wii get wrapped up in the novelty, purchase one, and then realize it kinda sucks and leave it to sit in the corner. The iPhone is pretty similar. ;)

You needn't be tech savvy for the Android phones. Little of what I love about the phone involves any kind of tech-iness. I have emulators, the camera is great, the screen is beautiful for watching videos, it integrates perfectly with my Gmail and Facebook.

And sure, no one cares about flash. Until they're browsing and run into sites that USE it. They may not REALIZE that they care about flash, but it's like saying no one cares if their car has a climate control system.

This! Or, you don't need air conditioning... it robs the engine of power and uses more fuel in your car....

... but it's 120 degrees out!!! WTF JOBS. :D

Seriously, who cares if an iphones comes to verizon or not. Their tech is already 4 years old and the phone lacks many features that were surpassed by android years ago.

Flame me all you want, but the user experience on the iPhone/iPod is still better. My 3rd gen iPod touch is a lot more fun to use than ANY android device I've tried, including the Incredible.

And yes, I'm "tech-savvy." Not that I have to prove anything on an Internet forum...

I mean, yes, everybody and their dog has an iPhone, it seems, but it doesn't mean it's a bad device. It's a GREAT device, and Android is not as polished in comparison. And that's what I care about. The somewhat limited amount of things that the iPhone does it does *very* well. Whereas Android is a Jack of all trades.

And I'm not even going to mention all the half-baked form factors that Android comes on.

I really want to love Android, because AT&T is not an option, but it always seems to be a compromise.

Agreed. I'm still new to the Droid Incredible, and definitely like some things better. But it VZW offers an iPhone tomorrow I'll be in line to buy.

Unless you have had an iPhone you probably won't understand. The whole "package" is just better.

Only reason I gave up my iPhone is lack of signal coverage.

Most people want an iPhone because it's trendy and a status symbol. It's not a coincidence that most people in a Starbucks are working away on their Macbook and have an iPhone attached to their hip. Trendy places attract trendy people.

Just look at the people who shop inside of Hollister and Abercrombie and Fitch stores. Same story.

I laugh my freaking head off when i see this at coffee shops.

I dont know how many times i have seen.....

Someone that has a macbook and their iphone next to it, and they are listening to music with headphones plugged into their iphone.

What the fu@k.. Seriously, you would rather drain down your iphone to show people that you have both a macbook and an iphone, than listen to your mp3 collection using itunes off your laptop...

Fu#king posers make me want to vomit.
