I am receiving my replacement Eris tomorrow. Currently I am on leak v3.

I think I might root, and if so I have a few questions first to determine if I want to.

1. The main reason I want to root is to delete some of the worthless apps, IMO, preinstalled on the phone taking up valued space.

2. Overclocking. Just want to go faster!

3. HTC widgets, can I still use them on Root? On custom roms? I really like the HTC widgets and don't want to give up using them, I understand their are similar apps (beautiful widgets) and such that can replace them, but I don't want to have to do that.

Pretty basic, I don't want to do anything drastic. So, can someone point me in the right direction as to which of the couple of root thread's would be best for me to follow?

Thanks a lot!

Dude if you want HTC widgets and don't want anything drastic do not go with White Widow! While White widow is cool it will remove all things Sense related such at the HTC Widgets.

Root your phone and install Ivan's 1.0 that is listed within the root instructions

If you want something that is a little more customized I would recommend Evil Eris or maybe ZenExp

BTW: I am using Evil Eris with my phone overclocked to 768 and it is stable an fast as hell.

I figured so with White Widow.

I was planning on following the one you suggested. With Ivan's or any of the others I will be able to OC?

Thanks again.

I need some help.

I started the first process to root by using the root file PB00IMG.zip. I noticed that the hboot changes to 1.49, is it suppose to do this?

I did a battery pull when I saw this to try and stop the process but it did not stop the hboot changing from 1.47 to 1.49 on my phone.

This is what I am doing http://androidforums.com/all-things-root-eris/53963-guide-stock-1-5-latest-root-2-1-a.html

It is supposed to do that. Just make sure it changed to 1.49 S-OFF, though, not 1.49 S-ON.
