Accessories Issues with Seidio 1750 extended battery charging with incredible

I purchased the seidio 1750 extended battery a couple months ago for my Droid Eris. When I heard about the incredible I was excited to see that my seidio battery was compatible so I wouldn't have to purchase another extended battery. Much to my dismay, the seidio will not charge at all. After I ran it completely out, I plugged my phone into the charger and checked back 30 minutes later and the phone wouldn't even turn on. Was I wrong in thinking this battery would work for my incredible? It works fine still when I have it in my wifes Eris. Anybody else have this problem? Will seidio still replace this battery if it turns out that it is deffective? I sure hope so because 50 bucks is a lot to spend on a battery that is useless to me now. Any suggestions?

I have the Seidio 1750 in mine. Just received mine Monday and its been great. It is my understanding that the Eris and Incredible 1750 are one and the same.

That's what I thought. Apparently mine is defective then. It will charge when it is in my Eris, but when I stick it in my incredible nothing happens. Hopefully Seidio will back up their product and send me out a new one. Also, the stock batter charges in my Incredible so I know that it's not the phone that is defective. I guess I'll email seidio and see what they have to say about it.

I dont get it, if it works in your Eris but not in you Inc that sounds like an issue with the phone. No? Is the battery you recieved with the Inc charging correctly?

Good question, I thought the same thing and switched back to check it. The battery that came with the phone is working fine. I've been wanting to contact Seidio for some time now for some other issues I've had with this battery. I have never seen the results that many people are claiming on this site. I have consistently gotten under 7 hours awake time with little to no usage with this battery. I tried my stock battery in my eris and it seemed to do just as well as the seidio, if not better. Recently, I watched the battery go from 78% to 47% in less than 10 minutes. I never contacted them because this started happening after I had already been using the battery for over a month and I just figured I was SOL. Thankfully though, Seidio is willing to stand behind their product. I will definitely continue to do business with them. I bought the innocase for my eris and I will be purchasing one for the incredible as well. Very good company to work with if you ask me.

This does sound like there is an issue with the battery, but Garment69 has a point, there MAY also be an issue with the phone.

Slim odds I know, but you may have gotten the perfect storm of a funky battery and phone...

It's funny you say that. I spent three hours at Verizon this morning after I made this post. Long story short, after waiting 2 weeks for this phone, I'm now waiting (again) for a new phone to be sent from Verizon. (the soft keys would not light up when they were supposed to in addition to the battery draining rapidly) I'm just hoping it will be here sooner than 6/15. I should have guessed though. I am cursed when it comes to any kind of electronics. Ask my wife.

Received my Seidio 1750 2 days ago, for my Incredible. Charged several times and yesterday lost 20% in less than 10 minutes and continued losing power until I replaced with origional 1300 mah from HTC. Power loss was normal and roughly lasted most of the day with moderate use. I read a similar problem with this Seido and the Incredible in an earlier post. I understand the company is very proactive about customer support and I'll have no trouble replacing it, but I believe there is a compatibility issue, or product run problem. It's too coincidental and might be the reason there checking this thread.

Hmmm...that may be true, but I have searched quite a bit around the internet, and out of all the people that are purchasing this battery, there really aren't that many that have had any issues. Still sucks that we had to be in that minority though.

It appears Seidio is a company trying it's best to offer good products that others aren't doing or slow in developing. The example here is the HTC 2300mah extended battery, which won't be available until sometime in July and will require a changed back cover due to the battery size and the 1500mah, which is approx half of the Seidio 1750 increase from the oem and approx the same price. However, I believe there is an issue and why Seidio is trolling the Incredible thread. An issue doesn't have to mean an issue with every battery, but a high enough percentage that has statistical importance. The difficulties we both share seems to more than a coincidence and Seiko needs to make a statement that refutes my contention, which will protect us in the event down the line there is a systemic problem. I believe the problem Might be related to the heat of the Snapdragon cpu.

Excellent info. I would prefer to think Seidio isn't deliberately selling 1750 batteries that are actually around 1500 mah. So your info can only be explained as their poor quality control, or heat deteriation, because of the ever increasing cpu speeds of the new smartphones. My GUESS, the reason why as capacity increases, the need to have larger size batteries, is in part necessary, to dissipate the heat, thus the changed battery covers.

honestly i have been thru several batteries from them with no issues. I have seen that link posted many times and read it long ago. Still would buy from them as you seen practically none of the batteries live up to full potential anyway.

granted you might find one that has the same output as the seidio but costs less but for $40 i am very happy with mine
