What is Link for in People?

I tried searching for this, but, didn't come up with anything helpful.

When I go into People, and then into a contact card, there is a Link button with a number in it in the upper right hand corner of my Hero.

What is this for and what happens if I touch this button?

I'm afraid to do it without knowing what is going to happen and not knowing how to undo what happens if I don't want what it does.

Will link contacts with Facebook profiles.

When you click "link" you are given the option actually link.
