OMG Radio Shack Hired A Guard To Watch The EVOS!

I was in my local RS store last night and talking to the Mgr. She said they hired a security guard to baby sit the EVOS in store on Thursday and Friday. She is afraid someone might break in and steal them! She asked if I wanted to come in at 6am to get mine because they are offering a 20% discount off of all accessories between 6 and 9 am 15% after that. She went on to explain the RS program on EVOS. She said R/S pre purchased its 200,000 EVOS from Sprint guaranteeing them the handsets in store. The way RS is implementing the EVO per store is based on how many pre orders the store has. My store had 8 pre orders so she said they are then guaranteed 16 phones 8 pre and 8 general stock. They are getting an equal number of general stock handsets to how many pre orders they sold. She said the phones will arrive in store sometime Thursday the 3rd.

Yea what ever the 50/50 mix turns out to be. Also she said if the store had NO pre orders the store would not have any EVOs in stock at launch for regular over the counter sales. So it would be best if you are planning to just walk in on the morning of the 4th to buy your phone, call the store ahead to see what they will have in OTC stock if any, because stock quantity will be different from store to store due to the pre order numbers.

not only would security protect the EVOs, but future sales as well. If one were to break into and steal Evos leaving RS without any to sell on launch date, you can be sure that they'll lose their customers for future product deliveries.

I asked the RS in Kennesaw, GA if they would open up at 6am ... they laughed and said "No one would get up at 5am to get a phone at 6am." I then said, "If you build it, they will come." They didn't understand. Damn teenagers!

Perplexed, I called RS HQ and explained what happened. They were not pleased and offered me an additional 10% discount. I denied it as I wanted to be totally anonymous and didn't want to hear "Oh sorry Mr. Jones - your preordered EVO must have been sent to Hawaii and not here."

I went to the RS in Marietta where they WILL open up at 7am. Sweet.

My store said they would open at 6am only if someone with a pre order requests that time slot otherwise they will open at the earliest appointment anytime after 6am

The official program is that stores with more than a certain amount of pre-orders will open at 6am (other than malls)

The amount of EVOs sent to each store is NOT based on the number of pre-orders a store took.

Every store is supposed to have handsets to sell on launch day.

I wouldn't doubt it. I had to be escorted out of Walmart in 06 when I got my PS3. I was the only preorder to show with the money, they asked the long line who had a ticket I was the only one. All the savages in line were eye ballin my ticket. I paid and 2 cops escorted me and my sister to the car. It was madness. Don't think this is that serious though.

Dude! Best Buy just called me today and said I could come as early as 8:30! I kind of want to come their the night before to check if they have a gaurd waiting there too
