What are peoples opinions of the release day?
Do you think stores will sell out?
I called my local store (very rural) and they are doing the 8am opening and have 60 phones on tap for sale.
Should I get there as early as possible to secure one?

Thought, Opinions?

Considering you live in a rural area and there really hasn't been ALL that much hype for this phone (except for the internet), I think you could probably show up any time that day. It's funny that you say that your store will get 60 because that is what the store I go to said they have.

I live in Chicago though.....

I don't think you'll see multi-hour wait lines going around buildings. Motorola and Verizon would love that, but I don't see it happening.

Being that the launch starts at 8:00am on a Friday, when most people probably have to be at work, I can't imagine being too busy.

But, during any normal hours I've ever gone to my VZ store, they've been very busy.

So, anywho, I'll be at the door at 7:45am-ish and go from there... (taking vacation day from work)

According to the VZWOffers twitter feed they predict they will have enough stock. As for the internet hype, it's still no where near the iPhone either currently or when it launched. I'm not worried any more about getting the phone on launch day, but I'm still getting there when they open b/c I want to have the phone all day.

I'm ordering mine over the phone, if you do this it ALSO gives you an instant rebate like Best buy does. And you can get Sat shipping for 19$...

Worse case scenario - I go to Verizon in the morning when they open and I don't get one. At 8:00am I should be able to jump on the phone and order one for Saturday delivery. If what the manager told me were true, they have 60 phones in stock.....I think I am safe. The only downfall is waiting for the rebate, oh well....life goes on. :D

My local Verizon store has a stock of 180 and the two reps I spoke with said that quite a few people have reserved their device so they are guaranteed to get one, so I put a reserve on mine. I've got everything planned out :)
Anyone have any idea on stock of accessories?? I plan both the multi-media and car docks, but I'd prefer to get the car dock that comes with the car-rapid-charger!!

I just made a call to my local Verizon store and they told me they are not taking reservations on the Droid. He also chuckled when I asked him and said that he does not see them going through there stock on Friday. He also said that if I get here at 8am like I am planning he cannot see me even having to wait in a line.

I live in a rural area, where there is no chance they will sell out. I will be there before they open. Why? Because I want it all, and I want it yesterday. I am quite impatient, and there isn't a moment to waste in getting my new phone.

I will be purchasing a multi-media dock first and hopefully a case.....so far I have not seen a single case that I like. I know the <shudder> iPhone has a hard shell case that is a black leather type pattern. Really nice and not a shiney black either.

I will not likely get the car dock since I have a GPS that I literally bought 2 months ago. <sigh> I guess I could give it to my wife or something.
