Hey guys/gals, im posting this because I just found my new absolute fav home replacement by far! For those of you who haven't yet tried ADW LAUNCHER try it now! It just replaced my HOME++ and LAUNCHER PRO by a long shot. I was switching back and forth between those until I just found ADW.
ADW brings soooo many options to the table, and it can only get better and better. One of my favorite options is being able to hide my notification bar...with ADW I can hide it and show it with the click of my home button. Anyways, I just thought I'd share with you all......NOW WHERE IS MY DAMN FROYO ALREADY!!!!!

I replaced Home++ with LauncherPro because it wasn't stable enough, and it lagged often. LauncherPro is very quick, reliable, and a future release will include status-bar hiding and drag-and-uninstall -- just like Home++.

Well in adw your able to set your own smoothness and screen bounce. A lot more options available in adw, and like launcher pro future updates will make this unbeatable IMO. Download it and try it....it quickly replaced launcher pro and home++ for me.

I agree with Teknoloogic. While I haven't tried Home++., I've tried both Launcher Pro and ADW Launcher and in both cases, I ended up returning to HelixLauncher 2. I don't know if it is so much because HelixLauncher 2 is better (I think so) , it is more that I found no real advantages in either iof the alternatives either for feature set or speed and performance. I suspect if I was used to one of the other two, Iwouldn't find enough reason to switch to HelixLauncher.

I like HelixLauncher 2's feature set overall, and found some of the features in the others weren't as good.

Just an opinion. YMMV. That's what's nioce about Android, so much choice.

Well first and foremost: just ONE single force close yet (of all my apps, I want my launcher to be the most stable one) and I barely noticed it closed even then.

Second: Speed. Now ADW and launcher pro are also good candidates here but I find that with helix I'm able to scroll from one end to the other as fast as my thumb can swipe and the launcher can keep up perfectly, no matter how many widgets or apps fly by And scrolling through the app drawer is the fastest I've seen yet, to the point that it even makes me less inclined to keep all apps on my home screens. For instance: scrolling all the way down for youtube is a matter of a second (and I don't directly open the app that much so I don't want it on my home screen).

And ofcourse the app dock with 4 dedicated, yet easily customizable apps is very handy (although ofc all the new launchers will all adopt this succesful formula). But it's really handy for me that when I hit home, I can almost just open one of my 4 main apps before I even see the icon because it's just always there (again, I like things speedy). Like when I get in my car, I'm usually doing 4 things at once, so I just hit home, bottom-right, middle. I've now opened my music player and pressed play blindly (I use my N1 as an mp3 in my car)

That's about it. Landscape is ofc nice to have as well in some cases (can take a second or 2 depending on your widgets). But ofc all the newer launcher will boast that feat aswell.

So it probably boils down to personal prefference again. I'm all for speed and stability in my launcher, and while I do really like to tinker with endless settings in most of my apps, I've come to find it invaluable to have a launcher that just works perfectly the way it is.

Thanks for the heads up that home++ has the ability to hide the status bar. I've been missing this since upgrading to 2.2 because helixlauncher2 is broken for me with 2.2. Lack of live wallpaper support for Home++ is disappointing though.

I'll check out launcherPro as soon as they add the ability to hide status bar.

Yeah I just got to ADW too and it's pretty darn cool.

Only issue I'm having is when I click the app drawer button it keeps showing my apps then reverting back to the home page. It must be some setting.

Weird... I haven't had that problem. It seems smooth and problem free for me, so far.

ADW is pretty cool. Very smooth and fast and very intricately customizable. But I find Tag Home to be much more to my liking. Not as buttery smooth as ADW but easily as smooth as Helix 1. Also not as delicately customizable BUT, and here is the big one for me, you can prioritize items within the app drawer. So in effect I have 1 6 instant shortcuts available with one touch of the app button. Then all the rest if the apps show up below that as normal. Add the 4 totally custom static icons at the bottom, static page selection dots at the top, infinite transparency settings for the dots, drawer button and static icons up to 9 screens (I only use 5), landscape mode (with app drawer on right side), supplication grouping categories, tag a category to a home finder, lock orientation to portrait, landscape or auto. Every but as fast as Launcher Pro.

Everyone should give it a try. Seems like no one is talking much about this one, but I am sold.

You do realize that you can have a total of 8 icons on your home screen,,,2 show in the dockbar and 6 are actually hidden within that dockbar right? So, when you drag the dockbar upwards it releases a hidden dock to add 6 more icons. Is that whats maybe happening to you?

I have tried tag home and yeah it was way to laggy for me. I dont think I actually got any fc's on it, but I also don't believe I used it long enough to find out. If it wasn't for my newly beloved ADW id still be switching between home++ and launcher pro. If launcher pro brings an update to hide the notification bar and show it with just the click of the "home" key then Ill try it again.

ps..for those who have just installed ADW today and from here on out...I would recommend not playing with the desktop scrolling speed or desktop bounce. The dev just released an update today that has those set a very nice default settings...I believe its 740 and 40 just incase you already changed it lol.

LOL....another reason why this launcher is blowing away the competition in my books. Oh and the DEV is constantly updating and making great improvements.

I like the "disable bounce back" feature also.
One thing I wanted was to hide the notification bar when using the web browser. I guess "it" just doesn't work like that. I think it should be an option in the stock browser.

If you wanna hide the notification bar when using the browser download dolphin browser HD.......its an amazing browser. Supports pinch to zoom, double tap on screen to get full screen (notification bar hidden).

If I disable the dockbar, the app tray launcher gets strange (doesn't open). Many people are having the same problem: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=684874&page=8
Also, I'm having issues with double icons on the dockbar; so I'll have to delete 12 of them when there's supposed to be 6.
Also, when you launch a program from the app tray, you sometimes see the home screen for a brief second as it resizes (maybe it's hiding the status bar)
on froyo non-rooted preupdate.

+1 to Launcher Pro. Easy, Clean and Smooth! Plus I notice 100+MB free on my task killer widget.
