In preparation for the Droid, I've opened a GV account. So far, I love it! I've gone so far to even give all my contacts my "new" number. I've pre-ordered the Droid from Best Buy and will pick it up this Friday :D

I've downloaded the GV app on my Blackberry Curve (don't even know what model it is...it's over a year old) and have been using the SMS feature on it exclusively. The refresh time is sloooooowwwwww  I don't know if this has to do with Blackberry or my crappy AT&T service

I know I'm going to really miss BBM, but someone please assure me that GV on the Droid is going to be so much better since it's a Google phone.

Hey man, I have been using GV on my G1 for a while now and the refresh rates are great. Usually about 5 minutes unless i refresh sooner. There was one time when there were a couple messages hanging in the server and i opened GV on my phone and got the messages it was like 30 40 mins later. You will love it tho!

I guess my concern is that GV SMS isn't as 'instant' or fast as SMS on a regular cell on the BB app. I see that there are refresh options, but the least amount of time is 5 minutes. That doesn't cut it when I'm trying to have a conversation with my husband, kids or my friends.

I was wondering if the Droid/Google phone had better response time. Am I making sense?

All I can say is this...I used my PC with google voice and sent an SMS to a friend with T-Mobile...He got it 15 mins later. So we decided to try it the other way around. He sent one and I had it on my phone in under a minute. We tried the same test both ways 3 times I think...Each time yielded the same results...

I'm not sure if this matters, but he is using a jailbroken Iphone on T-Mobile, so I suppose that COULD be the issue...All of the texts sent to me came through very fast though...

**EDIT** Forgot to mention I am on Verizon. The phone I am using, until I get my Droid next week (don't ask) is a Samsung Alias...
