Help Phone gets too hot in window mount

I recently bought a window mount off ebay for my Inc and have been loving listening to Pandora and using the Navigation program while driving.

This weekend I drove a couple of hours back and forth to see a friend and both times I had issues with the amber notification light starting to blink. I had the phone plugged into the Verizon car charger. Could it be that the battery was getting too hot and this was the phones way of notifying me? I live in Florida so it would make sense that the phone was getting rather warm in the window mount.

Anybody else have this issue?

Can this cause any damage to the phone or the battery? Am I OK as long as I pull the phone down out of the heat whenever I notice this happening?

I had these worries too when I had my Omnia, so I just point the AC vent at it and it keeps it cool to the touch.

i like to do the same thing. except that i dont have a window mount and i live in oregon (60 degrees outside)
my battery gets warm too. i think the combination of using the GPS, CPU, and 3G wireless constantly is alot for the battery to handle so it gets warm.
and then depending on how you are connecting to your stereo you could be using the bluetooth wireless card as well???

anyway, i think we are just overtaxing the battery.
i noticed while doing this that i also lose battery life (albeit slowly) even though its plugged into the car charger.

same thing happened to me yesterday. i was driving back to jax from lake city. didn't get the blinking amber, but when i pulled down my notifications i did notice that my battery widget pro said "overheat". my temp was at, like, 126 degrees or something. plus it didn't charge at all, stayed at 61% the whole drive (i was running google maps turn-by-turn).

so clearly the car chargers verizon is selling us don't put out enough juice to charge while using. this will be the third charger that i've gotten for this phone that doesn't do the job. so far the only charger i have no issues with is the HTC charger that shipped with the phone.

i love the crap out of my phone but if HTC doesn't get on the ball with some accessories i'm gonna be seriously let down. I am willing to pay for a desktop cradle, extra HTC brand chargers, a TV out cable... why don't they want my money?

It didn't charge because it was in "overheat" mode, nothing to do with the charger, and any car charger if you are streaming or doing something power intensive like turn by turn will barely charge the phone as what you are doing is drawing almost as much power as the charger can deliver. The only thing more amperage would do is cause it to overheat faster so not sure what you want? Blow some cold air on the thing and you'll be fine but don't expect it to fully charge in an hour while your streaming music, using turn by turn, and whatever else you may be doing with it

right. i wasn't doing anything but turn-by-turn. and my point wasn't that i expected it to charge with 500mA but that i want a 1A car charger.

and if the battery wasn't charging at all, how did it stay at 61% for the entire trip? seems like that would indicate it was charging, just not very quickly. or at least not depleting. which would seem to indicate that a heavier charger would help.

actually, that brings to mind a question i saw somebody ask before, but never saw an answer to, and i never tested it myself. has anybody tried running the incredible without a battery at all, only plugged in to a charger?

Same here GPS + Car + Summer = Overheating.

Just had this happen to me for the first time the other day.
