iPhone vs Evo, the only pro/con that should matter.

The biggest factor is the area you are in. If one company has better service then the other then obviously the call quality will be better. However, I do tend to agree with you in that in areas with equally good service, Sprint does sound better. I had Sprint for 3 years before switching to AT&T for the iPhone last year. I am definitely not unhappy with the call quality of AT&T here and I have never heard any complaints from other people being able to hear me, but I can tell a difference when talking to someone on an iPhone vs Sprint. I don't think it's a huge deal for everyone, but for some people it may be.

I obviously can't speak for the AT&T network as a whole, but where I live its pretty bad. It was bad when it was cingular, its bad now. It also operates on a frequency that interferes with speakers/sound systems, when an AT&T phone gets near speakers on a computer or car I always hear the speakers start going WHOM WHOM WHOM WHOM WHOM

Yes, but it's not the "only thing that matters" is what my reply meant.

Even by it's own actions and words, ATT realizes it's network has not kept up with demand. They're so far behind with 3G that they're just now getting to HSPA upgradges, and those upgrades are a full year behind TMo completing HSPA+. Not good.

Yes, call clarity cannot be separated from the phones. But really, why are so many phones having issues on ATT? Whether smartphone, feature phone, or dumb phone, a LOT of phones from almost every maker has call quality and connection problems on ATT. That's a problem.

Evo will outshine iPhone as a device, and by end of summer the ATT-Apple connection will be damaged beyond repair. Will that lead to LTE iPhone on VZW soon - IMO definitely because it's going to be far more of an incentive for Apple to pay the piper and break up the bad connection and move on. Can you hear me, can you hear me now? That was a direct shot at ATT from VZW - look for it to come back into play as the Evo dominates the new non-4G iPhone.

I guess where I live every network works well. I have friends on every network and no one complains unless they go out of town. The only thing about sprint is in my house for some reason it does not work so well, but I am hoping that will change with the evo and 4g. What is sad is they just put in a new tower not even 2 miles from my house and still the service is shotty at best in the house. One of the girls at my local sprint store lives like a block from me and she said her service is great at her house. I think my house is just jinxed. LOL

At my office I support 5 iPhones on my network and I have heard major complaints from at least two of them, one of which lives in Alexandria, VA and does not have any service in her home. When people call me from their iPhones on my office landline I have a very hard time hearing them. One of the users travels all over the country and says his coverage is very poor.

On the other hand, I have a friend who lives in Hagerstown and says he has no issues whatsoever with coverage and he travels extensively for business (although in very large cities).
