I lost my Droid last night

All of the apps out there to find a lost Android phone seem to be SMS-based. I don't have a texting plan because I use Google Voice. Is there any program anyone knows of that can help you find a lost phone but that uses some other protocol? Maybe e-mail?

I think it's work the $1.50 or whatever they charge to find you phone. ;)

Oh, yeah, no question there, but the thing is that I have Verizon blocking all SMS to my phone so it would probably be hard to set it up to work properly and then would I need to have the phone on me to unblock SMS or could I call Verizon up, have them unblock it, and then send the SMS? Either way, if there's a way to do it with another protocol like e-mail, it would be so much easier. :)

This seems obvious and low-tech, but I'll say it anyway: couldn't you have just CALLED the Droid and listened for the ring?

+1 for Mobile Defense. I've had it since day one on my Droid. Pretty neat little app.

Yeah I personally prefer Mobile Defense because as long as you block the notifications for text messages it sends (to activate location tracking etc) there is no indication that it's even running. It also allows you to activate the pattern lock from their website, so if you don't use a pattern lock (like me) and you lose your phone, you can activate the pattern lock remotely.

The + for Lookout is that it's also a virus scanner.

+1 exactly how I use it.

the product, and site, are still in beta so some of the functions they claim " Remotely lock, backup, and wipe your phone" is not true, right now, all you can do is lock it. it kind of cool to go on the site and you can see some history of the phones location - I just zeroed my location out.

also, the reference above to "block the notifications for text messages it sends (to activate location tracking etc) there is no indication that it's even running." is seen here, I also did it.
