Root Camera Turns on by itself

Has anyone experienced your camera turning on by itself? I'm running NexBeast 1.1 with Belkits 1.2lv. I updated to NexBeast 1.1 yesterday and had no issues until just now. I did a complete wipe x2 before I updated. Also, I have tried rebooting my droid which seems to help for about 5 min but then the problem comes back.

I just started having this issue myself several days ago, sometimes I'm not even holding the device, its just laying on my table and the camera decides to turn on. I have a stock device (non-rooted) except am running helixlauncher and some other apps...look forward to a solution!

I just received my 2nd "rebuilt" Droid as a result of another problem (other people cannot hear me most of the time). The "newest" Droid has the same camera issues mentioned above. The camera turns itself on so much and so often, I can't use any applications. As soon as I start typing something on the screen keyboard, the camera turns on. This has been reported to Verizon...twice at a store and once via the support 800 number. I am having ANOTHER rebuilt Droid sent to me this week.

CharlieHC -- My suggestion is to go to VZW and demand a brand new droid. My wife had an issue with her LG Envy a few years back and, even after getting 3 "like new" devices, the problem kept reoccuring. She simply went into VZW, explained her situation, told them she wanted a brand new phone because she needs her phone for work, and they gave it to her. It's really sad that they continuously give out refurbished phones to people that keep getting duds.

I spent 40 minutes on the phone with Verizon on Saturday and elected to use the calm and polite route...NO SUCCESS. The only option given to me was ANOTHER rebuilt phone. (Unless I wanted to pay $199 to upgrade one of the other eligible phones on my account....that really didn't make much sense to me.)

I've been a fan of the phone from day one...now I wonder if I really like the phone, or just the concept!

We'll see what happens next.

Is it plugged into a charger by any chance? I've had some weird things happen when plugged into an aftermarket wall charger.

supersaki - it has occurred when plugged in and when not plugged in. When the phone is in my hand and when it is sitting on a table.

Problem Solved....Verizon FINALLY gave me a rebuilt Droid. This is the 3rd rebuilt Droid and hope it is the last one I need until I qualify for an upgrade.

The one thing about the "Camera Turning On" problem that really pis*ed me off was the fact that the camera NEVER turned on when a store tech person was looking at the phone! Three times I waited for more than a half hour to see a service tech and the camera would keep turning on while I was waiting....BUT as soon I was called to the counter, the camera would not turn on by itself.

I am beginning to wonder if my Droid was haunted!
