Screen Protector install tutorial?

Ive searched the Evo forum for help, but only find reviews of screen protectors. And not actual info on the best way to install them.

Like many, i've watched a few youtube videos on installing them, mostly iphone videos.

They use different methods, plus i think it makes it easier becuz the screen is small compared to the evo.

So, whats the best way to install one?
any tip or tricks for no lint, or bubbles?

Ive heard shower trick, soapy water trick, credit card trick, but have no idea what they are, or if they even work.

can some 1 help me? ion wanna pay geek-squad 20+ bucks to do sumthin that might me relatively simple, according to the videos ive seen.

if you realllllllly want no hassle, i say steam up your bathroom a little bit. just a little fog on your mirror will do. make sure it's well lit. lay the protector down to get an idea of how you want it. next, peel off the side that sticks to the screen. start by either laying the bottom or top into place first. next, start to lay it down, but make sure to lay one side down more than the other. this way, you can tell if it's going to line up correctly, and if it doesn't then you can just pick it right back up and try again. do this until you get it lined up good. it's really easy imo.

edit: oh, after you get it on, then peel off the other side. good to go.

This is the best way! You need patience and steady hands. Back when I got the first Iphone back in 2008 I got a 3 pack and wasted 2 because of bubbles and lint stuck under. Then tried the shower with steam and the cover fell right into place Then I sold my Iphone like 6 months later

Soapy water trick is using a cup or spray bottle filled with water and a drop or 2 of soap to install the screen. If you use a spray bottle, spray the phone until there are some water beads. If you use a cup you can dip your screen protector in the cup and then apply it.

Credit card trick is just using a credit card to push out the air bubbles after you have set the protector on the screen and/or back.

Shower trick is something I have not came across but I assume it is just getting your phone very wet when you apply the protector. I've read people saying you can damn near soak the phone and it'll be fine and easier to apply, I will not go that route. I will instead use the above 2 tactics.

So what does the steam do? Do you let the screen as well get steam on it.

If you do anything water related (Steam, soap, etc) Remove the battery and turn off the phone. Just don't be dunking it in a puddle. The steam on the phone will dry and it won't be there for long.

The steam supposedly gives you a dust-free place to work. I'd also worry about the moisture sticker myself, but to each his/her own.

how do i guarantee the wet screen protector will dry without like water stains between the screen and protector?

You know how the air feels super clean right after it rains? Yea steam gets rid of dust the same way.

I would be careful about a steamy shower, sometimes steam can work it's way into the hardware and screw your phone up.

I use Phantom Skinz and do exactly what they say to do. Get a cup of warm (not hot) water, add two drops of dish soap (this makes it to where the screen protector will slide around on the phone easier to help with placement) and apply.

Be sure to WASH YOUR HANDS FIRST! And keep your hands, or just your fingers, wet so the screen protector wont stick to them.

AIR BUBBLES, don't worry toooo much. Get the big ones out using a credit card as a squeegee but do not apply to much pressure or you will crease the screen protector. If you end up with a couple of small air bubble and some rainbow looking spots under the screen protector (cause by water that is trapped) don't force them out. THEY WILL GO AWAY, you may need to give it up to a week. Trust me on this. most will disappear withing 48 hours.

Other than that, go slow and take your time. I also suggest doing it at night when you don't plan on using the phone much that way it has a good chance to dry while you are sleeping.

Each screen protector is a little different and may require slightly different techniques. This is my method for phantom skinz and it has worked 100% of the time for me over approximately 10 installs.

so u mean to say put soapy water ON the screen, they apply the protector? how does it stay on? doesnt the moisture affect how it sticks? and when it dries, it wont leave water rings from the water/soap?

i now it must work if u guys are saying it, im just curious how? seems like the last thing i want is a wet screen.

NO. Get your cup of warm water and add two drops of dish soap to the water. You then soak the screen protector in the water for about 45 seconds. It makes it just slippery enough to not immediately stick and gives you time to position it correctly. This is per phantom skinz install instructions. No water rings or anything. The amount of soap added to the cup of water is negligible, but just enough to help.

Some do yes, but I find the phantom skinz to be very acceptable. The problem I have with the static cling ones are uneven application and the ease at which dust and other stuff gets under them. But it all comes down to preference, if you are happy then that is all that matters.

no, don't put your phone in the bathroom while you're steaming it up.
the steam is just to make everything in the air (ie lint, hair etc) settle.

get a static cling d00d. i'm anti screen protectors that need water or some sort of applicator. no mess with static cling.

again, no need to make it a sauna. just let it run for a few mintues man. it'll be okay, i promise. i guarantee it, in fact.

edit: tell you what. anyone that does static cling and tries this method, a little steam in the shower, if it screws your phone up, send me the bill.

what is the best method for Ghost Armor... does the spray bottle that comes with it make is a little slippery when applying so you can move around if you slightly are off center like the soapy water does?

Of course your not gonna leave the phone in there and let the shower run for an hour. I have done this many times with my BB and also my GF's Moment with zero problems. A little common sense goes a long way.

thx for clearing that uyp. i have the seidio screen protector. pretty sure its static cling. ill use the shower method to clear the dust. then do my best with the card thats supplied.
