Is Slacker still keeping your Incredible awake?

Last night I noticed that there is an update to Slacker, so I downloaded it to my Incredible. Opened it to see if there were any visible differences, went to a station and played a song for 2 seconds, selected quit via the menu, and then "shutdown slacker" at the end. This morning I open up Spare Parts, check the battery history/partial wake usage, and Slacker is at the top, bar all the way to the right.

I was hoping their latest update fixed the battery hogging problem.

Yeah slacker needs some real software folks. I love their webpage but their phone apps suck. At least it just keeps android awake, used to lock up and/.or crash the berry.

Been using it for a month now and havent seen any problems with Slacker keeping the device awake when not using it. Never had a problem caching on my Storm either.

Could always be worse, when Slacker first came out for the Moto Droid it was randomly formatting memory cards

Maybe I should try the caching, always just streamed..

I use the free version, so no caching available to me. At this point I am afraid to use it, because you don't really know that it has been keeping the Incredible awake until hours later. Not really sure why some people have no problems with it, and others have consistent problems.

I only use it once a week or so and after I'm done I just look at the app in System Panel and make sure the CPU time isn't still increasing. As long as it isn't doing that you're fine.

I've noticed that Slacker seems to be the least reliable streaming music app compared to Pandora and Last FM. Last FM seems the most stable. I've also noticed that if you have the Slacker widget on your desktop it will always be running, even if you reboot the phone and haven't started Slacker on purpose. Is this acceptable?

By least reliable, I mean it seems to be one of the few things that crashes my Inc when in use.

So today I notice that my awake time is increasing when it shouldn't, check Spare Parts, and see that Slacker is the culprit. However I have not used Slacker in many days. How did it start itself??? I may end up removing this app as it is the only one that is causing problems, and if it is going to be starting itself up, I can't have that draining my battery without me realizing it.

it looks bad for Android when slacker is in the Droid commercials on TV and it's a terrible app. makes the marketplace look bad. i do like the music better than pandora, it suits my taste better but the app needs some major work. the sound quality is actually very good as well, they just need to write a more stable and reliable app. we need to fill their comments on the marketplace with bad reviews so they get the hint.
