Root Funny how v3 leakers are rooting with replacements now

Yeah, I wish I would have rooted to begin with and not loaded the leaks. I was originally torn when I decided to take the plunge and decide between flashing the first leak or rooting, went with leak. If it wasn't for a 100% awake issue on my Eris I wouldn't have gotten a replacement and would have been unknowingly happy with leak v3 :)

Isn't there something you can't do on that ROM though. Something about MMS or something?

Theres been an issue with voicemail notifications (I use googlevoice so I dont care anyhow) which is getting fixed in the next release which should hopefully be tonight.

(Although Framework keeps teasing it and wont put out, so to speak.) :p

Other than that I haven't really seen anything thats a showstopper for me. It does what it says and does it very very well.

Do you have to be on the 3v leak to get a replacement from Verizon

No. Leaker's just wanted to root is all. Most were happy, some were pissed, and some were neutral.

Anyone can return their phone as long as it's got a bug they know about and it's not rooted and you don't tell them if you either leaked or rooted the phone.

I just found out today, that my droid eris, which I got 2 weeks ago could not root because of the new boot menu, says a dev. Is HTC and google finally doing something against this? It wouldnt even work with 1.5 if Im not mistaken.

The newer ones are coming out with the Boot Loader 1.49. This is basically the same as the Leak 3 version. They patched the hole in these newer versions, and last I heard the devs have been working on finding a way around it. It's up in the air at this point if it will ever be rooted.

this should be posted with every rom ever produced. I've currently got 4 NAND backups on my phone and I've been jumping back and forth almost daily. I wish I could just pick and choose what I want out of each and put them all into one. Of course, I could never do such things

I wuz lazy and didn't wanna look :p

I configed my current ROM and did the nand backup. Plan on doing another ROM very soon, after finals. Hopefully VZN puts out a patch for most of the issues and then they could be incorporated into our ROMs, which would rock.

Same here, I use GV too. Actually I just got more invites. Anyone?

I've been using WW 3.1 and REALLY like it, but there is a huge firestorm about it being stolen work. I wish that the work would go back to the rightful owners and that they'd perfect this ROM. Since this ROM is said to be stolen, is there another with the same or better functionality?

We learn to cite in school, shouldn't be too hard to do or fix the credits once it's known.

I'm with you on this. I really really like WW3.1 and can't wait for 4.0
I don't believe all the hype about stolen property after reading the xda thread about it. Andrizoid helped me along the root path and don't think that he blatantly stole someone else's stuff.

I've noticed that some folks are very territorial in the dev scene. Young folks too! I don't get it. If I ever get around to learning how to cook ROM's, I won't take donations and would hope to collaborate in order to put out the best ROM for everybody. I guess you get to a certain age in which bragging rights mean nothing.

yea, if i ever get around to cooking up roms, I just want a big collaboration of devs to come up with a fast stable rom. It benefits me and the Rooted Eris community

Hah! If you ever get around to cooking roms you will probably feel donations coming your way are justified after how much time you will have put into it. Most people don't bother making their own because it requires a lot of time and knowledge to get a good stable rom built.

I believe you. I seriously doubt that cooking will happen for me. I'll just stick to the ROMs that others have worked hard on and donate when deserved. The most I will get into customization is doing things such as removing Sense from Aloysius and adding JIT. Again, that is just benefiting from the hard work of others to whom I'm thankful.

Everyone who is rooted had better hope that nothing goes wrong with your phones. I just got my wife's replacement today and it came with hboot 1.49. I was hoping to root the phone but it appears that's not happening anytime soon.

It seems that more and more are saying this. Some of us just happened to get 1.47 at the right time. My phone was refurbed on May 5th. What is the date on your wife's phone?

The way I see it, this will be more of an incentive to find a way to root the leak version and hboot 1.49

I agree. I just wonder if there are any devs that are still giving a lot of effort to rooting 1.49. I believe that there are at least a few. Correct me if I'm wrong, but Verizon's two HTC Android phones are the only HTC phones that haven't been rooted by way of dev exploit. Amazing!
