Help Battery Life on EVO!!!

Ok i got my Evo like 8 days ago and my battery life is dying really quick (im talking 3-4hours max) nothing is running in the background i always use task killer but when i go to settings >> About >> Battery use Android system is using 93% of it 2% here and there for Display, Cell Idling and voice. Same exact thing with my incredible (3-4hours battery life). When i check my wife's Moto Droid the Display is using 89% of the battery (so why is it different in the droid even though she doesnt use as much as i do). is there any extended recommended battery for the Evo? or is there anything i can do to at least use the phone for 6 hours without chasing a power socket! Thank you

Well it seems to me that if you are having the same issue on both the Evo and the INcredible then you are using the same App on both of them that is eating the battery. Could be something you downloaded, could be a setting you have. I have heard the Friend Stream App can eat into battery. Change the updating for FB and Twitter to like every 4 hours. If you have email accounts set up how aften are the polling for mail? Gmail setup? same question. Also look at your Up time vs Awake time.... if they are close to each other than you have an app that will not let your phone go to sleep. If that is the case.... unistall apps one by one untill you find the culprit. FYI... when I first got my hero I used Task Killers and almost always had the horrible battery life you are getting. Stop using a Task Killer... they are not needed at all.... People think that they are when they see processes open like Sprint TV and they think "I never use that so let me close it". The fact is that it is not really open... it is hibernating. ANdroid manages apps 1000 times better than Windows Mobile. Task Killers cause nothing but problems.

Not sure how to tell on the Friend Stream as I don't have my Evo yet :( Wow so out of almost 42 hours your phone has been awake for 20 of those hours so 50% of the time. to give you a comparison.. my Hero has an Uptime of 69:04:47 and an Awake Time of 8:59:51 and I have been using my phone pretty moderately the past few days. You may also see that Awake time coming down as you stop playing with the phone for hours at a time. Do you have 4g turned on all the time? My best guess, again, is an app that is eating your battery.... and if I had to guess a culprit it is the Task Killer (because some of them always monitor in the background) You do not need a Task Killer..... Trust me... But if you absolutely feel that you do.. download Astro File Manager... it has a Task Manager built into its tools that does not run in the background. I use it maybe once a month if an App freezes on me and I don't feel like waiting for it to close. I can't say this enough YOU DO NOT NEED A TASK KILLER! hahahaha sorry I feel pretty strongly about it.

Its not the task that are the issue "I just figured this out on my G1" it's the stupid background data. I don't care what the battery meter says, I killed my back ground data and my G1 hasn't been on the charger for 2 days. Normally it would be dead in like 4 or 5 hours.

For now on it's off on all my droid phones. I'll synch when I want too, no reason to have every freaking app installed always calling home to see if there is an update, or having my email super fast, I use ssms anyway and it's still instant.

And one more thing, why the heck does background task need to be enabled just to open the Market app?
