GMail or Googlemail?

Which would people recommend to use as an e-mail address to access the Market?

I've read that some people have problems with one or the other?

I use @googlemail - i briefly switched to gmail but had gtalk error issues so changed back - no problems at all.

And not that its any big issue - you can send and receive mail from both anyway!

I changed to Gmail a couple of weeks ago and all seems to be working fine for me! I've used the market, and pretty much every other google app including talk with the new address. You can change it back if you want to though remember, but I prefer the sorter URL as the start of my address is long already.

I found that I had problems accessing the market when I changed from Googlemail to Gmail. I could not download updates to existing applications anymore, or get new applications. The problems went away when I went back to Googlemail.

I think that Google are working on the problems, so I might try again some time, although I only use the Google account as a backup email address anyway, so it is not critical either way.

I swapped to gmail from googlemail and had a problem downloading from the market. So I did a factory reset on the phone and set my account to gmail (it was on googlemail).

Everything was fine after that. It seems the handsets get confused between the gmail and googlemail accounts.

I don't think it's worth changing just in case.. besides, even if you have the longer address people can still reach you on the short variant anyway so it makes no difference as far as I can see.

I am currently wondering if I should change to GMail/Googlemail website as prompted.

Here is my current situation.

I received my Desire last week and set up a Googlemail e-mail address so I could access the Market etc.

However, the phone is being exchanged today (dust under the screen), so I restored my original handset to factory settings - thus wiping everything, including the e-mail address etc from the phone.

If I change my e-mail address to GMail as prompted, will I be able to use this on my new Desire without having problems accessing the store?
