A little advice please...

i have been messing around constantly with my desire since i had it, about 3 weeks. Installing apps, uninstalling apps, etc, etc...

It has become a little laggy, certainly not as fast as when it first arrived.

The main things that concern me are how to backup all of my contacts, including their pictures. As this has taken me some time to compile. I have backed up my contacts to the sd card, but i dont think this does the pictures as well.

Advice, ideas?

You can't beat storing your contacts on Google. I reset my phone not long after I had it and restored the settings etc from the SD card, then just put in my google account details and hey presto all my contacts appeared within a few seconds, including the pics.

The thing I don't like about full backup systems is that I'm unsure whether they restore other crap you don't really want, I prefer starting from scratch and re-syncing which doesn't take long, not in my experience anyway.

If your contacts are Google ones then the details and photos will be re-synced back to you phone after the update, Have a look at your Gmail account on a pc and check.

The majority are phone or exchange contacts. Anyway to convert them to Google contacts?

People > Menu > Import/export ; export to sdcard

Then:

People > Menu > Import/export > import from sdcard > select google type

Then delete the old ones, alternatively just do the import after the reset.

But see my post above, I've never had to do a hard reset ever, my phone is as fast as it ever was, and i have approx 220 apps installed

If it really is slowing down and you have a lot if apps you may try a t ask killer.

Some apps start up when u switch on the phone, so may be appropriate to kill these.. Just be aware if you do use this not to kill system/core apps such as clock or calendar. And don't kill any apps you use as widgets.

I find a restart once a week cleans up my phone a lot too :p
