Very underwhelmed by the Evo's box contents...

I'm with AT&T now (going back to Sprint tomorrow) but I can remember back when I was with Sprint more than a year ago, and got my Touch Pro. I was completely surprised with how much stuff was in the box. I can remember a belt pouch to store the phone, screen protector, extra stylus, earbuds with mic, 1gb (I think) memory card, charging adapter... And even the HTC HD2 which shares some of the features of the EVO even has a pair of ear buds in the box, along with a silicone case to put the phone in. Not to mention that the HD2 included a 16gb microSD card with Transformers 1 and 2 on it which is a cool bonus.

Why couldn't they put a little extra in the box for the EVO? I've watched two unboxing videos on Youtube and it's rather lame that all you get is the phone, preinstalled 8gb card and the charger and that's that. Not even a pair of earbuds. Even my iPhone came with earbuds. Now, I understand this isn't a big deal and it certaintly isn't compared to the phone i'm getting but they could have added a little extra in there (in that recycled looking box) considering that in the Sprint store i'm paying $299 for this thing and probably have to wait 8 weeks to get the $100 rebate back.

Still excited as hell to get the phone, but little bonuses reassure me of my purchase and are nice surprises.

You have Apple and the IPhone to thank for this trend. They were the first with no CD software and just a cord and a USB adapter. The Incredible is the same also. IPhone no longer comes with ear buds its a way they can make more money selling you stuff that you should have gotten in the first place.

Yeah, me too. I always think the same thing, "why didn't the include X and Y that I want and make me pay more for them" Then I'll buy something else that comes with a cheap case I would never use and you don't have a choice just to knock 2 or 3 dollars off the price and pay for something you don't want. Apple's phones, forget what they're called, AppPhones or something, come very minimalist, however Apple really over charges for accessories. Hopefully Evo accessories will be more reasonable.

do you remember how much you paid for the TP???

this way you save $100 on the over all price. Take that money and get much better accessories.

I have no problem outfitting this phone with the appropriate accessories. Everything I've gotten for it has been on sale: Seidio case, headphones, 16 GB micro sd card, HTC Headphones.. only thing not on sale was probably my clarivue SP. I've never outfitted a phone ...ever. Never been excited about a phone like this.. ever.

And yeah, the boxing of the phone sucks but you're only going to punt it off. S/N The Instinct box was packaged nicely, but it's the phone you deal with at end of the day.
