Wow, my pre doesn't have voice dial either but at least I can answer from headset. I think I'm going to wait until 2.2 comes out before I take the leap.

You will be able to answer from your headset as far as I understand it. We just need to wait for FroYo for the voice dialing. FroYo is rumored to be out in July anyway so why would you wait?
I just purchased a blueant q1 for my voice dialing needs. I found it for $23 online today only. Although I like the h17 I wear now I couldn't pass up a good deal
This issue is definitely fixed in Froyo... I posted this question in the Nexus One forum and several people running Froyo confirmed that voice dialing for sure works in it.
