Guys just got my incredible today and i love it. I downloaded google voice and activated it on my phone but its totally confusing me. OK i get the sms on both my Verizon# and GoogleV# in the messages section of the "HTC Message" app. It appears that google voice is making my calls and sending my text messages because i can see places calls on my google voice account on the website and i went to verizon's site to see usage data and it appears everything is good (no more text messages being sent) but every time i make a call or send a text message i see my verizon # and not my GoogleV#. Now i have google voice setup to make all calls. I also went to the HTC Messages apps settings and there was an option "Send Callback Number". I changed it to from my Verizon# to my GoogleV#. Every Call & SMS i send is still showing my Verizon#. What am i doing wrong?

thanks,
Ncage

Are you sure you actually set up a GV number? There are 2 parts to setting it up, one is the voicemail part and the other is making a GV# which is optional. You can do just the voicemail portion.

Also, be aware that when sending texts with GV from your phone, you must download and use the GV app from the market. You cannot use the native messaging app for GV texts.

Yep. After spending lots of time (which i shouldn't have had to do). I found out lots of people are having these same issues. When i first tried to activate google voice from the phone it kept on failing. It would fail if i tried to add the phone & its number. It would also fail voice mail activation. So i went directly to the website and tried to do it manually. That worked which was wierd because like the number they gave me to activate was the same number when i tried to activate automatically from the phone. Anyways but for some reason its not integrating with anything. If i go directly to the voice app i can text from there but i can not call using google voice and even though i do receive text through HTC message app from google voice if i try to send a new text it doesn't send through google voice. The only good it does me is that i can recieve google voice calls after i activate it.

I only get 1-2 bars at my house which had never been a problem in the past so i try to go to an area where i will get full signal and again it failed. Is this the reality of fragmentation? I mean i would think it would be the place where google would get it right would be on their on OS. All the incredible is is pretty much the nexus one with sense. I don't understand how there can be issues like this.

I've tried a variety of things. One lplace said to try to enter your credients manually rather than the google account stored in your phone and that didn't work. It sucks cause i love this phone except for that. I'm coming from a blackberry tour and while the integration of Google Voice wasn't perfect it did work.

Just out of curiosity, if you open GV, go into settings and scroll down to "My Google Voice Number", how does yours read exactly. I'm not asking for your number but just how it shows up there like:

555-5555
555-555-5555
1-555-555-5555

Which of these describes how yours is listed in that setting?

+1-555-555-5555

..so it has a '+' symbol in front of it.

Ok, me too. Just checking some other settings because mine works like a champ so I thought we'd cross reference.

Sync and Notifications:

Synchronize Inbox checked
Background data enabled

This phone's number:
Your regular Verizon number (should be a definite I'd hope)

I imagine these will all be the same. If so, and if you want, I can open up the web interface and start checking everything there.

Also, probably goes without saying but you did make sure you have Google set to sync on the regular phone settings > Accounts and sync

Seems like that shouldn't matter honestly but then again, all the Google stuff seems to tie together so I'm just trying to think of any remote possibility. On that same Sync settings page, Background data and auto-sync both checked.

Reason I'm trying the sync route is you said it wasn't "integrating" anything and that it seemed to work on the web but not the app. Just a thought.
