Can the Gmail app be use as a widget?

I can't set up htc mail widget, what I'm doing wrong?

Gmail account: POP3/IMAP>
e-mail address>password>next
protocol IMAP>
e-mail address e-mail address>
username - is this the email address or user name or either?
password>
POP server googlemail.com>
security type, none>
server port, 110> next>

Cannot connect to the mail server to verify your account information. your server is not responding.

any ideas what should i be doing?

thanks

I cant get the email app to see my google mail account either, so i just use the googlemail app instead.

annoying as all my other email accounts work fine.

have you used the same settings as me? (look in my previous post above), I wonder if i'm doing something wrong on the settings

I much prefer the htc mail widget (full page to view mail while on wifi). find difficult to believe that Gmail App don't have a widget for it too

You can use the following information to configure IMAP with many mail clients. If you encounter difficulties, we suggest contacting your mail client's customer support department for further instructions -- we're unable to provide assistance with configuring mail clients not listed here.

Incoming Mail (IMAP) Server - requires SSL: imap.gmail.com
Use SSL: Yes
Port: 993
Outgoing Mail (SMTP) Server - requires TLS: smtp.gmail.com (use authentication)
Use Authentication: Yes
Use STARTTLS: Yes (some clients call this SSL)
Port: 465 or 587
Account Name: your full email address (including @gmail.com) Google Apps users, please enter username@your_domain.com
Email Address: your full Gmail email address (username@gmail.com) Google Apps users, please enter username@your_domain.com

Please note that if your client does not support SMTP authentication, you won't be able to send mail through your client using your Gmail address.

Also, if you're having trouble sending mail but you've confirmed that encyrption is active for SMTP in your mail client, try to configure your SMTP server on a different port: 465 or 587.
