Anyone else switching to EVO for a device with AMOLED?

Edit: Title should say "from" a device with AMOLED not "for" sorry.

Does your screen on the EVO look kind of washed out and blueish? I realize AMOLED is much nicer looking and has alot more saturation than LCD but I don't know if I just got so used to the AMOLED on my Nexus or if I possibly have a bad screen on my EVO because it looks pretty washed out to me. On the brightside the screen is easily viewable outside in direct sunlight whereas the screen on my Nexus was invisible but this is going to take some getting used to coming from AMOLED.

BTW The phone is freaking amazing, no way in the world I can go back to my Nexus now LOL This is the best phone I've ever owned

This was the thing I noticed the most at the HTC NY event last night when comparing the Evo to the Incredible...the Evo screen is huge but super washed out. Same wallpaper on the Evo and Incredible looks 1000x better on Incredible for dark blacks, color saturation, etc.

Just my 2 cents though - Evo is still a great phone.

I actually wouldnt buy an Amoled phone. I need to be able to see my phone when the lights are on. I compared the Incredible screen to both a Hero and an iPhone in the middle of a mall and the incredible screen was just too dark. I made sure the brightness was all the way up. It was. It was much easier to see the fingerprints on the Incredible than it was the screen. I was very shocked that this AMOLED i have always read about was pretty bad. I dont often use my phone in darkness. So i actually prefer a brighter display over amazing color saturation (whatever that means).

If you watch the latest Engadget show they are talking about phones on stage and the editor of engadget said he would use his nexus one as his primary phone if he could just see the screen outdoors.

But to each his own. Some people buy plasma tv's. I have a 60 inch LCD. I like bright.

Yea I prefer to be able to see the screen outdoors for sure but damn I never realized how nice looking those AMOLED screens are in the dark it is a drastic difference from the LCD on the EVO.

I can live with it though because this is the best phone i've ever owned by far and i've always owned the latest and greatest phones so that's saying ALOT about the EVO.

I'm sure when Super AMOLED becomes the norm and more affordable i'll get a phone with that.

I'll pass on AMOLED, its too young and has too many flaws to stay around, heck its already been replaced.

It works fine in direct sunlight. I keep my brightness turned up and tilt the phone one way or another to reduce glare. I think this can't use amoled in sunlight is a bunch of bull crap. The Incredible screen is far nicer than the EVO imo. Again, more is not always better.

I bought an anti-glare screen protector for my EVO because it's still hard to see LCDs in direct sunlight. Trying to look at my G1 outdoors can be a nightmare. I can only imagine the horror with AMOLED.

Yea my palm pre has a nicer screen than the incredible. Who cares if the incredible is higher resolution. More is not always better right? Haha

If you were so happy with your phone you wouldnt be on the EVO site posting about it. It is proof enough that you have EVO Envy. Go back to your incredible board and let them convince you that you made the right decision. Whats trolling here doing for you? Are you expecting us to agree with you? You want us to say "well shucks you are right, all we need to do now is install some glare filter and tilt our phones a certain way to see the screen, and why we are at it maybe we can pay more each month also"

You have buyers remorse because of the EVO. If you didnt you would be here. Notice us EVO owners are not on the Samsung Instinct message board. Hey you can always pay 325 and get out of your over priced contract. Hahahaha

The AMOLED screen on the Incredible was way too over saturated on the one that I had. The colors seemed over boosted and un natural looking. It was like a color TV with the color setting set way to rich in color. The screen was nice and clear and all but just not natural looking to me.

I was intrigued when the Gizmodo review clearly showed the EVO loos pinkish and washed out compared to the Nexus. I confirmed this morning by comparing to my Incredible. Same result. Ignorance is bliss, since the EVO screen looks good until you compare to the Incredible. I did not notice this difference when comparing the Moto Droid to the Inc. Moto Droid screen looked good and not "pinkish".

This is not just a case of more pixels per square inch. The Evo screen just looks weaker compared sise by side to the Nexus and Inc. IMO, of course.

I agree, but there must be different screen batches for Inc, since mine does not have the red color bleeding that I have noticed on some display units. Strange. None the less, the EVO screen looks weaker to me, but there will soon be a BUNCH of comparisons for fair sampling

I do not use the Inc in direct sunlight, but did not with G1 either. I see the Inc display fine as long as sun is not directly on the display. Why would you do that anyways, unless the display is also a solar panel

Don't know where you live but in Florida AMOLED is invisible as in it looks like the phone is off when trying to view it in direct sunlight LOL Even shading the screen on my Nexus with my hand barely made it visible and as soon as I took my hand away I could no longer see the screen to dial it.

It was an excersize in futility! Cover screen with hand to see the numbers, take hand away try to hit the right spot where the number was, repeat 10 times then cover screen again and try and see the number to make sure I dialed it right...it was really pretty comical LOL

It does look damn nice in the dark though, I will miss that part of it.

Strange. My Inc display is white and that is comparing to my other devices. Gizmodo shows a pink EVO display and I saw that myself when comparing.

Inc must have different production batches, since others have mentioned having, and others not having the "pink" problem with Inc. Seems to be some of the first units had the problem. My Inc even blows my N900 away for white levels.

Really well my INC was defiantly over saturated. I also had no real full sun light issues with the INC like some had reported. Sure it washed out but I could still see it well enough to use it.
