Before the flaming begins, I am returning the phone... since its the right thing to do...

I placed an order for two n1 neoprene cases and was charged $22.98. They sent me the cases, and a couple days after i received those, i got a n1 in the mail with no battery or battery door.

By law, something shipped to you that you did not order is considered a gift. Technically they cannot charge me for their mistake. They did figure it out after a couple weeks and called me asking about the phone. I agreed to send it back to them.

What would you guys have done?

After almost 52, I've coming to really believe "what comes around goes around", "Cast your bread upon the water and it will return", "do unto others what you have them do unto you". I've seen it.

Do you have to to return it? No. Should you? I would. But that's me. So, good for you! :) :)

Yes, you definitely did the right thing.

But then again, Google is richer than God himself!

I guess I don't have sympathy for rich corporations even if it's the 'right' thing to do.

You have to ask yourself: Who am I hurting by not returning this? Certainly not Larry Page's bank account.

They probably would have blacklisted the phone if you didn't send it back though so no point. You would feel like you had a weight on your shoulders if you kept it too.

When I ordered my Tour last year, Sprint sent me two. I had a bunch of friends offering to buy it from me, but I knew the right thing to do was send the second one back. So I did somewhat half-heartedly. To my surprise, though, when they got the returned unit, they credited my account, so I ended up getting the phone that I had for free. I figured it was my reward for doing the right thing.

I would have been tempted to keep it but would have sent it back.

The N1 was the phone I really wanted , but when they finally announced the Incredible and didn't release the N1 I got the Incredible. Still very happy

But props to you for doing the right thing, there's not many of us left in the world that think past ourselves

Yes.... htc has a boatload of cash compared to what I have. They did send me a shipping label, and will call me to find a good time for fed-ex to pick the package up from my house. So at least I have to do very little to get the phone back to them.

From what the law says, this could be considered an unsolicited good, meaning it is mine to do with what I please and could not be charged. That and the fact that possession is 9/10ths of the law I'm sure I COULD get away with keeping it. But what the hell... I didnt order it, nor did i pay for it...

It would be nice of them to send me a couple more cases as a thank you :) Maybe ill drop that idea on them. I already lost one of them, and will be sad if I lose this one.

really? all of you would have contacted them and returned it!? doubtful.
I would return it if they asked for it.

Up until about 3 years ago I would have kept it and either hooked it up or sold it . But now I dont know what happened but I'm all about Karma, and ever since my life has gotten better and better. So I stick with it , good example . A few months ago me and some buddies went out to the bar broght back a group of girls to my place and partied the night , after everyone left and I went to sleep I woke up later that day and found a purse under my couch . I grabbed it and started looking for a contact in it was many credit cards over $500 in cash, an Ipod, Iphone and what looked like a very expensive watch.
I grabbed the Iphone pluged it in and was able to call a girl who was in the call log a lot and they came and got it that night .

Neadless to say they were very gratefull and I never thought twice about not keeping any of it. Just the satisfaction was enough.

Let me ask you this quesiton "if you lost your phone wouldn't you want someone to return it to you??"
and dont give me the "ohh it's a huge company they won't care" while that's somewhat true the cost of that phone comes out of someones pocket somewhere nomatter how deep the pocket is

The phone would be blacklisted so no use in it. Would be pretty sick to ebay a blacklisted phone. That would catchup quick.

I would only return it if they gave me their fedex account number though. Would not invest a dime into returning it other than gas to get to the fedex dropoff - but that would be on my way to somewhere I needed to go so it wouldn't really even be gas money.
