Ok so my phone has been giving me lots of problems since almost day one. I called vzw on May 17th for tech support and they told me that they would ship me out a new one, but i will not get it until the June 3rd.
So i called today, and they said sorry for the delay but it wont be in stock until the 23rd!!! On top of that they tell me that my order for a replacement phone was never approved for some reason, so they make me go through tech support again.

The tech guy was nice, i told him the many issues with my Inc. and the most important one: battery temp is 130 degrees after gps use.
He was really nice and said that it is a known issue and the HTC has told them it is due to the phone, not the battery, so we will get you a new phone. then he said it is back ordered but let me check just in case... he says, i am seeing a few available!! and i say how can that be and he responds by saying that maybe they got some in.. and said he was going to overnight it to me and i will get it by Monday. i didn't believe him much, but lo and behold, i received an email that my order has been shipped and was emailed a tracking number!!

Now i don't know if it actually a new one or a refurb one... I though and was told by vzw that they had no refurbs because the phone is so new and they have not taken any phones back to refurb since they cannot give out new ones to the ones that have issues..

I guess i will find out on monday whether it is new or refurb. But what do you guys think i might be getting? New or refurb?

I haven't read your whole post, but to answer your topic title question, probably not. I say this because I have been waiting over a week for an insurance replacement. They keep telling me they don't have any in stock. So not even the insurance company has refurbs. I am hoping this is a good sign and that I will get a new one from them.

I'm getting a replacement too, and OK'd it around the same time. I just got the email with tracking number, and it will be delivered Monday. I'm 99% sure that it is a new one since they told me that they would bill my account for the $300 upgrade price and I'll have to do the $100 rebate again. They will then credit me the $200 when I ship the old one back.

I was never told i would be charged again, which makes me think i am getting a refurb :(

I had a problem with my phone a week after I bought it. I called vzw and tech support ordered me a new phone on May 8th. I got the shipping email. I got the phone on May 11th.

Guess what? A refurb. That was right around the time the backorders started. Tech support ordered me a new phone on May 13th. I just got it on June 1st. Not a refurb. Brand new in a retail box. Not a brown box with no battery.

So yea, watch out for the refurbs.......my phone was a week old. I want a new one, not one that has been fondled by some pervert.

why's that?

I am guessing because some people feel assured that the phone has been FIXED of whatever problem it had, therefore it is better than a new which could have a problem out of the box.

I would not mind a refurb, unless it has physical flaws (which i have had in the past from vzw). If it looks the same as the new one, then i would not mind the refurb at all.

I returned my first Inc. because it refused to charge up. Plugged it in at 34% the first night I got it, and in the morning it was still at 34% and died within 10 minutes of use. I got my replacement phone 2 day after they ordered it, and I can verify that it was definitely a refurb. It even still had lines where you could see that someone had a screen protector on it.

i'll have a refurb tues or weds next week. I used my worry free because of dust under the glass, the 2nd one (brand new) had the same problem but worse. They can't send another new one...so it'll be a refurb. I hope it's in mint condition, in general i've had very good luck with refurbs, seem to have more attention put in to them than the new devices!

I used to cringe at the idea of a refurb, but long story short...what I was told is that each and every refurb is inspected before release, whereas production units only a sample is inspected. And refurbs are held to higher standards than production. So you have a better shot of having a phone that is performing better than production. Whether or not its true, I don't care. In my experience, my refurbs simply felt better in my hand, but who knows, maybe its all in my head. But keeping my head at rest is a feat rarely accomplished.

I also sent mine back because of dust under the screen, just got my shipping notification Friday, will be here Monday! I really hope that this problem does not continue, 4 out of the last 5 HTC devices I've owned have gotten dust under the screen at some point within the first few months, the HTC Diamond, Touch Pro, the Eris and now my Incredible. One would think that this is something they could figure out, I mean look at the technology involved with these phones, but they cant seem to fix something that would seem to be a pretty easy fix.

Oh well, enough of my venting, I'm really glad they are starting to ship the Incs out with some regularity.

blown speaker on brand new inc. went thursday to verizon tech, my guy in the store said he couldnt get an answer. tech dept gal has one on fed ex order. waiting with crossed fingers and baited breath that is a good replacement. may make them at store fire it up to verify, then take home and spend the hours to reload everything.
***** i would be a better salesperson for the Inc. than the folks working there. was showing off the apps to my guy in the store and suddenly had a crowd around me. salespeople didnt even understand me when i told them my phone was NOT rooted even though the bootanimation was different. hate being smarter about my purchase than the people selling it to me.

actually just because its in a brown box doesnt neccessarily mean its a refurb. I had a warranty replacement for a curve one time, came with just the phone. the esn had never been activated before.

So it may be new anyway, just without the accessories. In any case, the Certified Like New Replacements have like 100 or so points of inspections before being sent out, and they carry the balance of the warranty on the original purchase or 3 months, which ever is longer.
