Just downloaded Shapewriter for My DInc... And it is awesome. All those waiting for Swype should give this a try because its pretty Incredible...

I got it installed and like it, but for the life of me I can't figure out how to type a password with different cases in it. It's all or nothing. Very frustrating.

U need to type it letter by letter,once u finished just click (add) in the ShapeWritter screen,that way next time it will b in the options so u can pick .

After you type, you can go back and capitalize letters individually. Since it capitalizes after you write, you have to do the whole thing and then go back.

Not exactly convenient, but that's such a rare instance for me that I don't worry about it. To me, it's a far better app than Swype in every other regard.

Just downloaded it also. I like it better than Swype but I'm not sure why LOL... but how do you type double letters? Individually? I tried finding tutorials on the web on youtube but jesus they go so fast I have no clue. Is there a written manual on it? That would sure save some time. I really like it though. It does take some getting used to.

You don't have to bother with double letters -- just trace them as if they were single letters. So to enter "pool" just trace p-o-l, and ShapeWriter will recognize "pool." It's pretty rare that you have words that are the same except for a single versus a double letter (like "good" versus "God"), but if you do, both will appear as alternatives and you just pick the one you intended.

This is one of the major weaknesses of ShapeWriter. (The other, IMHO, is how it hides characters like "_", "[", and "]", along with the general absence of lots of useful non-ASCII symbols.) I actually like SlideIt better than ShapeWriter for these reasons (although SlideIt has its own failings, too, of course): there's a real "Shift" key that works almost as you'd expect, and there are bunches of Unicode characters. (The "almost" part is that SlideIt won't let you engage the "Shift" key in the middle of a word, but there's an easy workaround: just go into and out of the "Symbols" keypad, and SlideIt forgets that you're in the middle of a word.) The problem is that SlideIt costs

Funny you should use "pool" as an example, because "poll" would be the exact same motion. Shapewriter of course wouldn't know which you intended on typing. It's just a simple matter of selecting it from the list of words it pops up, though. So no biggy.

Just wanted to mention this for other who might have thought about that. I definitely love Shapewriter. Almost more than landscape standard typing.
