How many of you paid full price for your Evo?

I paid full price for mines also. I could have waited until October when I eligible for upgrade, but that means I have to renew my contract. That's right my two year contract is almost up. I won't be bound by Sprint much longer. I might haggle with them a bit to see if they would give me a better deal on my plan so they can retain a value customer as myself.:D

I did, I expected it though. I asked the Telesales rep if he could do $299 with no mail-in rebate, he put me on hold, came back and said only if I add a 2nd line. Tried to negotiate a bit with no 2nd line, no dice. I just bought the Hero 2 months ago with an upgrade offer and mail-in rebate, I had nothing to use, so full price it was. I billed the phone to my account and should see it Tues at my job.

How did you get them to buy your Moment for $100? Was this at a corp store?

Call *2(customer care) and they will give you a 100 dollar credit for your moment. They will send you a return box for it.

I paid full price for my wife's EVO. She dropped her Moment and cracked the screen...thought I had fullcpverage insurance but did not. So I just bought her an EVO. She really did not like the Moment. And I don't like it anymore now that we have an EVO in the hizzle!!!

It was a regular retail store. The guy who helped me out saw that my one year upgrade was in August, so he tried to get the manager to give me my upgrade early, but he couldn't. So instead he said he would buy back my Moment. The Moment isn't a popular phone and $100 is about what I was expecting to sell it for anyway, so I went for it.

The Moment is seriously the red-headed step-child of the Android phones, lol. There was virtually no product support from Samsung and that phone had nothing but problems. I just ventured over to the Moment forum and almost every thread is about something going wrong.

i was going to pay full price but what i did was:

cancel a line on my account. pro rated cost = $130.00
evo = cost $213.99

so the phone cost me $343.99 plus i got the free BT earpiece from best buy which im not going to use. ill just keep it NIB until i sell the evo for its replacement next year...

I am considering doing this but was worried about losing my phone number on my initial account. What I mean is, if I add a line and then cancel my initial line will I lose my #. I wanted to get the Evo on the second line and then cancel the first which was brought down by sprint to $50.00 due to all the issues with the hero.

This would mean I would get the evo for 211.00 and then another $50.00 for the cancellation of the first account. Also while I have the second line, will I have to pay a month's worth of service on that?

Yikes...

My contract period ended at the end of Jan (SERO with Centro). I had been eager to go Android by that time and knew nada about Evo on the horizon, so I re-upped at the end of Feb for the Hero, with my $150 upgrade credit and the $100 mail-in rebate.

I haven't a chance in hell for getting any kind of deal now, have I? Even if I re-up to the unlimited everything plan? (I've got SERO again, which is about the same price with only 500 mins...I'm not much of a phone yakker, even for biz.)

:(

Any way to get additional discounts if your upgrade isn't here yet? My moment has as so many issues over the past few months.

Just be nice about it and ask for retentions department. They are very helpful and will try to keep you happy. Keep in mind that there is only so much they can do for you. I tried to get an early upgrade and he went to bat for me with his manager and the manager only allowed 2 weeks prior. I told him that will not work and he lowered my cancellation fee. Kinda created a back door for me without directly saying it. I said I didn't need that and he said I am going to do it anyway because of the issues you have been having.

yes you will more than likely lose the number.

i lost the number on the line i canceled, however i use Google voice and i only give out the GV number, so i can change numbers at will and no one will ever notice...

I paid full price...Retentions was useless...being a 10 year customer is just as useless. Oh well I am gonna to recoup about 250 from selling the Hero and other stuff I have no use for..so I am not complaining. Plus I didnt have to add another line, pay the ETF and I get to keep the number Ive had for the last 10 years. I just cant eat for a very long time.
