I used chat yesterday to try and get an activation credit. My bill was $322 and I thought that when I added a line and got an upgrade, they could at least cut me some slack on the activation fee. After all, they were going to be taking $20 a month in the Evo luxury tax alone. Here is what chat said:
06/17/2010 04:36:29PM Agent (Michael CC): "I greatly apologize for any inconvenience this may cause, however the Activation Fee is a standard charge. This allows Sprint to activate your new service while providing you with the lowest possible monthly service costs."
06/17/2010 04:38:10PM ME: "Yes, but I'm paying a $10 per line fee Evo luxury tax as it is, plus a $50 "equipment fee" and twice the usual Sprint surcharges and taxes. It seems a bit like rubbing it all in to pay an activation fee on top of all the additional charges."
06/17/2010 04:39:08PM Agent (Michael CC): "I've reviewed your account and we currently do not have any promotional offers to waive this fee. These are standard and valid charges we are unable to credit."
06/17/2010 04:39:39PM Me: "Fine. I'll call. Goodbye."
06/17/2010 04:39:50PM Session Ended
I then called customer service and spoke with a very nice young lady who adjusted my account. She said that since I was a Premier Member, Sprint would waive the activation fee. (Anyone with an Evo is a Premier Member, duh.):
