Hi so, I am a t-mobile customer for the moment and i ordered my evo through student discount yesterday knowing i would get 15% off my bill each month. however, i was reading some stuff online where they say sprint customer service is horrible as they frequently 'go back on promises and don't give customers the discount they promised on bills'. is this true? i LOVE the evo as much as the next person, but if this is true than im going to take my phone back once i get it (next week i think) and go back to t-mobile. can anyone tell me if this is true or sounds familiar? THANKS!

thanks for the reply,
they haven't denied me anything (yet) as i went thru student discount rate online yesterday and ordered my phone and also ported my tmob number. but ive been doing some research and i'm see countless pages that have users saying that 'sprint said one thing, in terms of giving me discounts on my bill, but then went back on their promises'. ive maybe seen 200 comments like this in the past 15 minutes or so. That's why im so concerned.

What are you referring to? Stop, and breathe. Every friend I know has had no problems receiving their 15% discounts including me. Secondly, corp Sprint doesn't have anything to do with the student discount. They just apply it accordingly via studentrate.com. go through my posts in my profile and you'll see I have posted a sample of my bill with 15%discount applied. A bit of hassle to link as I'm posting via my evo but its there

yes but again ive been hearing and reading countless complaints about how sprint doesn't give the customers discounts on their bill yet they tell the customers on the phone that they will. they say sprint charges hidden fees and what not, and being a new customer im legit concerned. even though tmo phones arent the best, their customer care is top-notch so i wouldn't mind going back to them

Most of those people probably haven't called Sprint and just starting complaining right away. Anytime I've been promised a discount that didn't appear, I just called customer service and they always set it right. Heck, they usually throw in something free for the inconvenience. Been with them for 9+ years and always gotten what they've promised.

Don't worry, you'll keep your discount. They don't want to lose customers. Plus they have the cheapest plans. You can't go wrong with Sprint.

Keep in mind. Discounts may take 1-2 bill cycles to take effect. I've been a Sprint customer since 2001 and I haven't much anything to complain about so far. Sprint has been giving people discounts pretty readily to the contrary, and their loyalty program is pretty decent. Plus they have the best priced plans among major carriers hands down.

yes but again ive been hearing and reading countless complaints
No, sprint has been by far better experience with me then any other carrier. I have had my discount not show up on my bill, for the first two months of service. I called up, asked them if they would please apply it.

The next bill came up with the credit for the first two months, the credit for that month and a 100 credit added on top. The balance was -48 dollars.

So yes it ca happen for the first two or three months. Just call them up, be polite and ask for them to fix it. They will.

The biggest issue with any customer service is the customer. In the computer world, we call it pebkac (problem exist between keyboard and chair). If you are a bad customer, then you are going to get a bad experience. If you are a good customer, then you will get good customer service.

There was this guy on the boards that was soo mad that sprint would not give him a full upgrade on his phone 7 months early. You have a new phone for 5 months and it is sprint fault that he could not get a new phone pricing 5 months later.

Bottom line, sprint is 5 out of 5 stars for me.

Sorry to sound hateful but this post is just STUPID. Not saying you are but the post is. I read lots of things about how crappy TMobile is, so it has to be true. I know AT&T sucks green donkey balls, so it doesnt matter what I read.

Sprint customer service has been second best I have ever dealth with, only behind CLEAR. Could there be mishaps, sure.

Just stay with T Mobile, then you have no worries. Or take Sprint up on their 30 day money back guarantee ( which NO other Cell Company Does )

The only complaints I ever hear are from those with other companies and they cant say a thing since they do not have Sprint.

What Sprint is offering its customers is just better than the competition.

I will warn you of this though, your discount may only be on your PRIMARY line. If I remember right that is how it works, so additional lines on a bill would not get that same discount. So if your plan is $69.95 per month and you add on the hotspot and anything else, you get the percentage off of the $69.95 instead of the entire bill. I dont think sprint ever promises off the entire bill, read the fine print to be sure

I did have some issues with Sprint and the 15% discount through my wife's employer. When we signed up for the phones(hero and pre) the telesales rep failed to mention the 2 billing cycles to get the 15%. Then when i called in after getting the first bill the CS rep said they have never received any employer discount forms filled out so their was no discount in the works for us. I had never heard of these forms and did not know what she was talking about. I was told i would have to take employee ID, copy of pay stub to sprint store so they could fill out the forms. Then from them it would take an additional 2 billing cycles. So now we are talking about 3 months without the 15% (actually 20% was quoted by telesales girl). That for me was a huge problem. Not the money of course but the idea. The rude customer service lady pretty much calling me a liar and refusing to apply discount until i jumped through 10 hoops to get this little discount.

The main thing i learned is never to deal with CS. Never trust anything they say. Always talk to retentions first. The treatment and misinformation and broken promises had me ask to cancel my lines. I was still in the 30 days. After an hour of being called a liar by the CS rep and being accused of making the whole story up in order to get the discount i was connected to Retentions who immediately without argument credited my bill the 15% plus notated the account to credit it the same amount the next 2 months until the discount came through. I didnt have to argue it at all. Never had to do to the sprint store with documents on employer. All was done for me by Retentions. It should have been like that from the beginning without the 1 hour session with the rude CS lady.

I will say dealing with sprint CS can be difficult. The reps have no power or knowledge at all. All phone reps should have retention training since an experience like what i went through can cost Sprint a customer and cost them reputation.
