How can i set up missed text reminders?

So if i get a text it will go to that app instead of the stock app, or will the message be sent to the stock app, then forwarded to handcent?

The message will show up in both and you will get 2 notifications. To fix this, after you get handcent just go to the stock messaging app and unselect notifications and auto retrieve messages, then forget it is even on your phone and Handcent completely replaces the stock messaging app. It works great and has so many options.

I just started using SMS Popup and it's great so far. It has an iphone-like reply popup and you can configure how long you want the screen to stay active after you receive a text. Other goodies included as well such as button customization and text to speech.

Been using that as an alternative to using handcent. It works great, and you can set it to how it will popup (only if phone is locked or all the time) and the notifications are from the stock Messaging app.

The Stock Messaging app also places an icon in the notification bar until you actually view your SMS, that will stay there indefinitely.

I use an app called Easy reminder for my missed call and text alerts. You get the flashing light and a sound of your choice for alerts.

Another good alternative.

Question about this app...There's and option to set the message as "read" pressing "close" on the pop up screen. Problem is, when I do this, it takes away the notification in the status bar but the unread number still sits on the 'messages' envelope.

Any idea on how to fix this?

Thx

you could configure Missed Call to do this and still use the stock app.

But I, like many, use Handcent. Though I use Missed Call for other alerts.
Although the beauty of droid is the apps, i'm trying to slim down how many i'm using. LOL!! The more I use, the more confused I get with settings. BUT, saying that, bc having the "1,2, or 3" sitting on my icon is ANNOYING the hell outta me, when i've already pressed "close" in SMS POPUP.., how would I configure Missed Call to fix this?

Thx for the help!

I use Handcent and so do not have the issues you have and have, in my opinion, a better SMS app.

I do not use MissedCall to handle SMS, but see that it can, so you would have to investigate that aspect yourself. Just letting you know there is another option out there. AND, btw, that app could also be configured to give you alerts for Calendar events, Missed call LED notification and sound as well as SMS.. so, it has more than 1 use.
