Just released tonight...another 2.2 ROM. May be simpler to implement than the first one on My Droid World - Flash is listed as integrated, an ships w/one of P3Droid's wifi-enabled kernels.

UPDATE on FLASH - 6/6/10: Evidently the flash install w/this ROM isn't working...you need to remove the flash apk from /Data/App (you can use Root Explorer) and then reinstall Flash: Get the Flash 10.1 Beta .apk here (thanks to Fab for link): http://www.mydroidworld.com/forums/...html]Now that you have FROYO, How About Flash

SPRecovery version

The download link in the quoted text below requires Sprecovery, not Clockworkmod recovery (which is the default recovery used by ROM Manager.)

If you're using ROM Manager you can easily use ROM Manager to flash to SPRecovery and install this, then flash back to Clockwork recovery if you want.

SPRecovery version steps:

You will have to wipe data/factory reset if you are coming from a 2.1 ROM....if you're coming from another 2.2 ROM I'm not sure, but wiping data is almost certainly advised at this early point.

The usual warnings/caveat flasher comments - backup anything on your phone (aside from your SD card, which won't be touched) that you want to save before doing this, and no one but you is responsible if you goomba anything on your phone.

Steps below: I usually go to Settings/Privacy/Factory Reset on my phone and allow my phone to reboot after the reset and then boot into Recovery. After that:

1. Extract the Nandroid folder from the zip - the folder name will be fly-BS-20100606-0133 (Use the "extract here" option rather than extracting to a folder you name).
2. Copy that folder to your SD card into the /nandroid folder.
3. Launch SPRecovery - Boot into recovery (slide out keyboard, hold "X" key and power button at the same time until recovery boots.
3a. Select "Wipe data/factory reset"
3b. Select "Wipe cache partition"
4. Select"Backup/Restore"
5. Select "Advanced nandroid restore"
6. Select "Choose backup" and select the fly-BS-20100606-0133 folder
7. Select "Perform Restore"

Rom Goal:
- To create a clean, basic rom with simple basic functions - no fancy scripts - no extra apps - no theme - just good clean vanilla android

Well, I've tried installing birdmans 2.2 Froyo, twice now. The first time I thought I did it right as i was redirected to the android set up screen. But, once my phone did all that it was still on 2.1 running the cyanogen.

Nothing against that rom-- I LOVE it, but I want some froyo goodness, you know?

I'm not sure where I'm going wrong here. Do I need to re-name the file to udpdate.zip?

If I have the file in a folder on the sd card, will that be a problem (Right now I have it in a folder but I think I need to move it to the main section)

I've wiped my cache twice already..

What else am I missing here? *smh*

The download is for sprecovery, not clockworkmod recovery. You need to extract it and place it in the folder: /sdcard/nandroid. Then do an advanced nandroid restore and choose the folder, & restore.

I extracted it, and I am in the advanced restore, but I dont see the folder.. I see Restore Boot, Restore System Restore Data, Restore Cache Restore sd-ext

it wont work with the recovery that you have. I am in the process of making it work with clockwork recovery I will post here when I am done.

It amazes me how sp recovery was the first recovery for the rooted Droid and so many people don't know how to use it...
You have to have it for this, then extract the rom to your nandroid folder, boot into recovery, do a simple backup, wipe data and cache, then go to backup/restore and choose advanced restore. Choose the rom and restore it.. once it is finished, reboot and enjoy..

Doesn't amaze me. Some hear that clockworkmod recovery is easier and they gravitate to it like flies. As if SPRecovery isn't "easy" enough. Oy-freakin'-Vey!

you dont have to rename zips to update, you can format /boot and /system without adb, partition the sd card, and with rom manager you essentially have a gui for it.

Only thing that clockwork can do that sp can't is apply an update.zip from anywhere off your SD card and you don't have to rename it. Wow! Big leap there over. Nope, I've tried both, and clockwork just gave me bad issues. I'll stick with SPRecovery.

I ain't tried birdmans but the original one with a modified kernal did the trick for me.. About the first 30 min it was kinda sluggish. But it got faster and ain't bogged down since.

I haven't used SPRecovery in a while, but you'll find a Partitions menu in Clockwork that provides options not available in SP, can't remember enough about SP to note all the differences. IMHO Clockwork is currently superior.

Those are indeed the "hot" items about this ROM. Birdman also performed some optimizations...

Aside from the simpler setup than the other 2.2 ROM released so far (http://androidforums.com/all-things...-2-froyo-brought-you-mdw-oc-flash-10-1-a.html), I can't run the other 2.2 ROM, so I'm hopeful that this one will be stable for me (and others that may have problems w/the first version.

Just installed and rebooted - first boot takes a very long time, BTW...

Wow...the last day or so has been nothing but a bummer for me - I can simply not run any 2.2 ROM...Birdman's and the first 2.2 ROM leaked by Miami just won't run...my Droid screen either won't wake up from sleep, or my Droid simply turns off.

Running 5.0.7.1 CM ROM, all is perfect, zero issues.

Thinking I'm going to have to get my phone replaced...very frustrating, haven't seen anyone else w/issues like mine.

Clockwork nandroid works perfectly. Im currently in the first 10 mins with the rom. it runs slow because its reinstalling all of your apps automatically .. i went to the store and checked my downloads and there are like 15 things downloading and installing at the same time..

Did you try the usual suspects? When I first loaded the ROM onto my phone, it would not let me sign in to my Google account, just told me there was no service and wanted me to add a WiFi location - which it would not work b/c I hadn't flashed the kernel yet lol.

I had to reboot once to make it take effect, then I had to perform a battery pull after that, and finally all started working like it was supposed to.

Yup - once it gets rolling, it automagically reinstalls all your apps.
