Help cell standby vs. phone idle?

my cell standby is at 42% and my phone idol is at 29% .. is there anyway to reduce the amount of battery life here?

Is there a huge difference if I would allow my phone to shut down (after the screen goes black), or if I would to tap the on/off button on top?

Punch in *#*#4636#*#* on the dialer and go through the battery info and look for anything unusual. Also keep track of your apps and widgets many of them still use background data even without the widget and some of them are set far too aggressive, the Twitter app for instance comes set to update every 15 minutes and will drain your battery quite a bit. I find when Cell Standby is high it's usually because of apps using background data.
