Just curious if anyone got the EVO or plans to.

Until Sprint gets better WIMAX coverage outside of a few test neighborhoods in NYC, it's just a bigger HTC Incredible to me.

I'm also a little hesitant to get another HTC phone. My experience with them has been that their phones are cheaply made and rarely hold up well over time even though they initially appear to be solid.

i had just returned my att backflip and flopped my service over to sprint and picked it up today! best box on the market! cant what to hack it up with some personal stuff!

I really dont have any complaints about the features but i need to understand better why i couldnt use my google voice number as my base phone number! i will have to research that but willing to listen up here!!!

I never really paid it much attention - I have my DROID and I am sticking with it - until I get to upgrade time and there is a new badass device like this one without Sense and without VZW getting their grubby little hands on the OS.

The appeal for me is a 4.3" screen. If I could get an upgraded Droid with a 4.3" screen...Ahhh! :D

lmfao - by the time I am eligible for another upgrade, we'll probably have 6.3 inch screens....with direct satellite connections, FM, AM and Sirius/XM radio, and a plethora of MacGyver-esque tools, like lasers, acid, pepper spray, etc.

LMFAO!!!! PEPPER SPRAY!

I agree with you and I thought 3.7 was big. I think the limit will become whatever people can fit in a front pocket. 5" maybe???

I was at the mall yesterday and passed by a Sprint kiosk so of course I had to try out the EVO. It was pretty much as I imagined it would be. An Android phone running Sense UI. But it was HUGE! Not worth an upgrade, but I'd love to have that 4.3" screen.

What is mandatory in my next phone:
1) 4.3" screen
2) 4G
3) Physical keyboard
4) Trackball/optical trackpad (not necessary, but it would be really nice)

MacGyver-esque tools, like lasers, acid, pepper spray, etc.

I always approve of lasers!

I think we're quickly reaching the upper limit. I'd buy a 5" phone in a heartbeat but many people wouldn't. I think a phone that big would only appeal to men also because women's pants, especially for women that wear skinny jeans, tend to have tiny pockets in comparison.

Pepper Spray to appeal to the ladies a bit more - let's face it, the DROID population is predominantly male especially b/c of the aesthetics...or lack thereof, according to my female friends who don't like it.

Personally, I am of the Frank Lloyd Wright school of thought - form follows function. Big rounded corners with wasted space doesn't help me at all.

I never use the physical KB on my phone, except when I am in the Shell - but for that very reason I will now acquiesce that a physical KB is mandatory. Until I started playing with scripts and the like, I never used the physical KB at all once I was rooted.

And yeah, lasers rock.... :D

As I said above, though, the DROID demographics will show that the phone is used mostly by men in the first place, so that will probably not be too much of an issue. There will always be pretty phones for the ladies to use.

I agree about the aesthetic appeal of the Droid. Sharp-edged and industrial is what does it for me, not Apple-esque "sleekness".

And I love the physical keyboard. I tried HTC_ime, I tried Swype (which is actually good for one-handed typing) but I still type faster with the physical keyboard.

Can you add the option "Stop starting these threads in the Droid forum because it makes the Droid look bad when threads like this pop up every single time a new phone is released?"

Because that's the option I'd pick.

Just saying.

Hmmm, That's a thought...Another thought would be that the intent in this forum is not to protect our phone against "looking bad" and believe it or not...eventually, we will all move on from the Droid (some sooner than others to a wide variety of different devices).

These types of forums help expand the Android OS in general and a big part of the Android OS is dependent on what hardware/network the OS is available on. Sorry if you feel threatened by the new phones that are coming out...but you shouldn't (just look at the poll results).
