Damageless leaves the Hero for the Evo, no more roms...

i saw that flip was doing a lot of evo work as well. hopefully we don't lose him fully too. i was really hoping for some updates to fresh roms in the future

flipz stated on his site that he will be moving onto the EVO but not till he finishes and releases Fresh Kitchen 2.1.

the ball kind of slows down...maybe stops at 2.1 for the HERO.
personally i can understand why developers are moving onto devices with more potential, but really appreciate the ones who will stick around for a while to support their latest releases and create a good stable final release of their roms.

Yeah it's a shame that he's moving on. I swapped over to Darchdroid. Seems to be the only rom I can get to work that includes the OC kernel. It's fast as heck with the OC and jit enabled.

+1 on Darchdroid. I tried out Zen for a day or so first, but the only thing I really liked was the dialer. Flashed darchdroid last night and I'm not looking back. Darchdroid + launcher Pro = win

is JIT stable? it was not with DC 2.08.1 for me, i would get random reboots 3-4 times a day

Everything with darchdroid is stable for me, I have had 0 problems here.
JIT on DC 2.08.1 was not stable what so ever for me, either. And the overclocking on DC wasn't stable for me as well.
Everything is good for me with darchdroid so far, fast, lightweight stock ROM and I'm just as happy as can be with it.

I don't think I will ever buy another sense phone after using this. Should have flashed it a long time ago.

as of yesterday i am using Aloysius 2.1 with launcher pro and OC+JIT. so far its been VERY stable and i am VERY happy. The only reason i didnt go with Darch is that it said you cannot use MMS recieve? I didnt have that problem with DC and i dont think Aloysius as that issue, not sure.

How many MFLOPS are you seeing on Linpack with darch? are you OC/JIT?

Ah yeah, you know I forgot about the MMS not working on Darch. Though I never ever have used the mms on my phone so that wasn't anything that bothered me.

I am oc'd to 245/710, set on boot + JIT
my mflops are consistently around 4.2xx - 4.359, how people get these crazy high scores are beyond me, but 4.3 has been the highest I've seen my phone at on any rom so far.

Maybe I'll nandroid and try out Aloysius 2.1 in a few days :)

What about you, what's your MFLOPS on Aloysius?

Do you have a link to download the ROM? I might try something different than Fresh Toast 2.1 just to see what else is out there.

Makes me very sad! Damageless announced on XDA that he wont be developing any more roms for the evo. The 2.09 release is the last one. Is anyone thinking about using icerom or fresh thats on damage now? I feel stranded!

They didn't announce that they would not be supporting what they wrote. Actually Damage & Trev have stated that there are a few things they are still working on and will continue to support other Dev's working off of his ROM... Besides, there are stable bases there to work off of and mostly all the functionality that can begotten from the Hero is there. With the exception of the BT issues of course, but until the Manufacturer WRITES the necessary drivers and protocols (Blue Tooth Profiles) I don't think that will work anyway.
So there are ways to make your own ROM's, make Theme's, or use other's, it's not over yet.

Moore's Law (Electronics) has taken an accelerated pace regarding Mobile Handsets and although you might get 2 years out of a phone, the shelf life is probably 12-18 months if you're lucky. That said, the Hero is half done! ;)

Don't flame me, I too have held phones for 2-3 years, but not anymore! That was then, this is now. Also, don't worry too much about the EVO, just wait till then end of the year and you find out about all the newer handsets; Dual Core Snapdragon Processors and Nvidia dedicated graphic chips in PHONES!!!???

lmao... PC's are DONE, I give em another 3 years, Pfffft!

Miniaturization, Portability, Cross Platform Interoperability, Multimedia, etc., all from the palm of your hand. Gotta love it.

Anyway, just my $.02

I just tested MMS and it does work on Aloysius yaay.

I also ran Linpack back to back and here are the results:

4.3
3.1
3.0
4.5
4.0
3.9
4.4
4.2
3.8
3.9

It dipped to 3.0 when an email came in, but I would say my averages are around 4.0-4.1?

Also on Aloysius, I usually get 3.3ish with OC'd to 768 and no JIT. With JIT, I can get 5.1 easily. But recently JIT has been locking up randomly and then restarting, so I disabled it..Sadly :( I loved having it that fast, but it's just not applicable yet. It wasn't doing it when I first loaded the ROM though, only after 3-4 days.

EDIT: also switched to DarchDroid for a few hours at one point, that JIT locked up on me as well..I went back to just Aloysius with OC.

is JIT stable? it was not with DC 2.08.1 for me, i would get random reboots 3-4 times a day

From playing around with the rom I found it to be somewhat stable(much more then DC 2.08.1 with jit enabled). There were some occasional random reboots, but it didn't occur that often. Unfortunately I have to get rid of my Hero since my brother is switching over to Verizon, so I can't test it out much further.

I'll be androidless unless I decide to buy a G1 for my prepaid t-mobile plan.

I got around 4.2-4.7 on linpack with Darchdroid. 710Mhz was the cap for me. Anything higher caused freezing/reboots.

dang, i hope it doesnt start getting unstable for me, its only been 2 days. I am noticing slight oddities though, but not as bad as before.

Im hoping its your 768+jit that was causing the issues. Most find more stability at 710+jit

hmm perhaps. I've gotten rid of overclock widget and am using the stock 710mhz and no problems yet...but we'll see how it works. Im hoping its my 768 too! With 710 and JIT I get about 4.7, so still better than 3.3 :)
