everytime im on a phone call, when i am trying end a call, why in the hell does this phone not hang up, all it does is the screen just flashes and i have to wait until it flashes when i can finally hit the end call button when it appears, also this phone keeps dailing peoples phone number by accidently

i like everything about this phone, but this problem here makes me want to take it back, any suggestions please help

I can't reproduce it on purpose, but last night accidentally called someone while setting up my favorites, and the screen went black and I couldn't get it to come back on to end the call (this was around midnight, not a good time to accidentally call someone). It finally did after a couple of rings, and I ended the call. Not sure if it was a one-time thing or not, but with your post, it's making me think it will occur again.

If the screen goes black and you can't get it back on, you can push the volume rocker, or top power button to turn the screen back on.

I called people by mistake setting up my contacts, it's the OS combined with the fact that when you (accidentally) hit the contact your screentimer also kicked in. I suggest when setting that up you disable or extend the time out. When you pull up the phone app, a simple tap on one of the contacs starts a call, it can be tricky. You need to make sure you are in the contacts section, there is a seperate widget for that under apps, and if you are there that you don't let your fingers slip. The phone can be very touchy at times. At first I thought programs where mysteriously running themselves but it turns out it was me hitting the lower capacitive buttons when holding it from the edges. It works best when crasping it from the rear or lying it flat.

In the app Market, there is an app called call confirm, it makes it so another button is needed to make a call, that may help. Another app I found useful for not calling random people is app called Not Call Log which allows you to set another location for the phone to go to after you end a phone call. Just some suggestions that may help, but it does sound like your proximity sensor is flaky.

Call confirm is useful to prevent mis-dials. The touch screen is pretty sensitive and if you aren't used to it, you can accidentally make a call by unknowlingly pressing instead of swiping.

This is probably what happened....when you're setting your favorites (with the HTC Sense widget), and you've selected a phone call to be your preferred way to contact someone, the phone automatically begins to call that person. I had a HTC Hero before the EVO and that ran me nutts - it's a weird quirk that HTC should correct. But anyways, once the call was made, you likely moved your hand over the proximity sensor, causing the screen to black out (i have done that a few times and was freaking out). So, if you are reaching for something and the screen blacks out, you may have shadowed the sensor. I'm not sure if this response will help you any, but I hope it does.

I called Sprint Support and got their advanced tech person - she told me what to do about it, and unfortunately (I'm old) can't remember what she told me to do - but it worked ;^) I'm sorry - I really wish I could remember it - my problem was that I use a headset, so it had nothing to do with the proximity sensor ... so, my suggestion is: call Sprint Tech Support and ask for the Advanced Tier - and someone from there will walk/talk you through it.
