Not Impressed With FedEx. Holding My EVO Hostage...

Just a quick rant and a heads up for others that will ever get anything through FedEx. Ordered my EVO through Wirefly Thursday night. Processed Friday, shipped same day. Followed tracking, and the phone arrived to Phoenix, AZ sort facility on Saturday night/Sunday morning at about 3 am.

Moved to local facility Sunday evening. Now will be sitting there till tomorrow, Tuesday, until they deliver.

-FedEx won't let me go pick up the package.
-They state their contract says they don't have to deliver till Tuesday.
-So my phone sits hostage for 2 days at their local facility.

NOT IMPRESSED. I don't know why they wouldn't like to save some money by having ME go PICK UP the package and save them the delivery, but that is the way it is. Just so everyone knows, FedEx will not let you pick up packages until after their first attempted delivery is a failure. Losers! ;)

Rant over, thankfully my EVO will be here tomorrow. Yeah! :)
 
They should let you pick it up on Tuesday (I always have with Fedex ground) but some SHIPPERS specifically REQUIRE 1 home delivery attempt FIRST before allowing any re-routing or depot holds. I know Virgin Mobile does that as does T-Mobile pre-pay. I believe it has something to do with some Federal Law and cellphone shipments, mainly for "pre-pay" phones but I guess it hurts everyone in the end. 9/11 changed the world forever.

Then that's what the shipper (wirefly) told them to do. If you paid for quicker shipping, you need to take that up with wirefly.

That seems wrong. I've dealt with similar situations and was allowed to pick up my package at the local facility after the trucks were done for the day. I would call FedEx's main number and talk to them about it.

Hats off to Fedex who wants that delivery verification - someones gotta be there to sign. If they miss you, you can call their 800 number and make arrangements for pick up at their hub which usually closes later in the evening. :)

UPS is pretty cool - they would put your package in the side yard and leave a note on your door. :)

USPS - those bums will dump your package on the doorstep and run. :mad:

I work for fedex home delivery. We dont work Mondays so there is no way you can pick up today. However you can call the 1-800-go-fedex and have then hold it for you at the terminal that way you can pick it up whenever you can.

Also, if you ever get anything else shipped by fedex that is going to need a signature. You can go to fedex.com print out the sheet that you sign and leave on the door with instructions on where you want you package left. With your signature on the paper ofcourse...

When I ordered a laptop from Dell I needed it the day before it was supposed to be delivered so I called the FedEx facility it was at and they let me come and get it. This FedEx was like Fort Knox too, they had 15 ft electric fences and a security guard had to come out and pat me down then use the wand metal detector. I was half expecting him to press his eye up to a retina scanner to get us back in the building haha.

I have tried this with the Home delivery here in Iowa, its don't work, if I call Fed Ex they tell me that its contracted out. I have left the notes and the guy will not leave the package. I live 5 miles out of town. Real Fex Ex has no problem leaving it, they even state on the tracking site they have signature on file to leave. But this is Iowa so our delivery guy might be a little backwards and enjoy long drives in the country.

As a shipper you can override any release form use. If the driver accepts that form Fedex is responsible for any problems.

Well sometimes the package may require a "in person signature" which in that case we cant leave the package no matter what until we get the signature from you "in person".

my evo was shipped from sprint at 11pm on Friday, got to UPS at 2am (3 hours later) and didd not move from 2am Friday night until Monday at 4:30...almost 3 full days just sitting there....finally it started moving late yesterday and should be delivered today!!
