The problem with ripping off the iPhone look is that when the original "inspiration" updates its look your phone looks dated. Love the look of the new iphone. To bad Samsung didn't use the leaked photos to update their phone.

The back of the phone looks completely different to a iphone and most of the front of the phone is the 4 inch Super Amoled screen which blows even the new iphone out of the water.

Besides Specs to me at least are far more important than looks and the Galaxy S has far better specs and alot more features.

Aside from the upped resolution, what exactly is different or so new looking about the iOS 4? IMO, apple didn't do enough to make it stand out. Everything they added, Android already does. Both from a hardware and software prespective. But i'm sure all the applebois and websites will give it rave reviews because its the 'new iphone'. If you ask me, it seems iOS 4 is apple trying to catch up with Android. Nothing 'new' or revolutionary.

As for the Glaxay S, I think it takes enough from the iOS to give it the look of 'iphone', but keeps enough Android to keep it apart.

I am using iphone 3GS now but will get this one. In my opinion, iphone was for an average user. It's getting bored for me even I jailbreak it. One look and that's it. I don't care even I9000 look identical to iphone. I want this one because screen, CPU and actually UI icon look like iphone but little better. I like it and want one now. Ebay listed $825.00 for 16gb model... little too much but consider getting it

The phone was already designed and created before the leak. I doubt they would spend anymore money on re-designing a product when they already have plans of future phones to take care of. Who cares if it looks like an iPhone. It's a touchscreen and there is nothing special about the iPhone, Galaxy S, or any other phone.

If people think my phone looks like an iPhone, then I will tell them it's not, but it's better because of blah blah blah and I will convert them!!!! :D

Samsung can't compete with apple on software and ux. They shouldmhave just gone with stock google and benefit from quick sw updates. Also the retina displays surpass super ambled except In power consumption.

It's lucky for saumsung to have such close ties with apple to benefit from their tech.

Surpasses Super AMOLED? You going off Jobs statements, or you got both phones in your hand to actually to confirm that? The resolution may be better, for text at least, but for images...I highly doubt that 'retina' display can beat out a Super AMOLED.

The iPhone display only has the numerical advantage in terms of resolution, I highly doubt it can come remotely close to the image quality provided by the Super AMOLED, the IPS + backlight technology for mobile devices has already reached its limit a long time ago so all they can do is up the resolution.

Design wise, the Galaxy S looks far better than the iPhone 3GS / 4, IMO.

No, the only thing the IPS dispaly excels at is higher resolution, and the difference won't be very important on such small screens. The contrast of 800:1 is very poor compared to a Super AMOLED which has true black (due to no backlight), which gives more vibrant colors. The Super AMOLED will also have better response time, although I don't think that will matter that much either. The IPS display will also probably we worse in sunlight, although that remains to be seen.

Since both phones will display a lot of different visual media (including the GUI's of course) the Super AMOLED will no doubt look a lot better with it's great contrast and colors. Backlit displays should soon be a thing of the past.

It was also reported that Apple tried to get an AMOLED (not Super) for the iPhone 4 but not even Samsung, the biggest manufacturer of such displays, couldn't manufacture enough of them in time so Apple had to opt for a different kind of display to meet their demand.

WOW, did anyone even bother to read the post? I have been here waiting for Galaxy S before most of you. I don't own a single Apple product. However, I do like the stylistic look of the new iPhone HARDWARE. Its only the hardware that has an updated look. The galaxy s (ok, not the back) is a complete rip off of the iphone 3g hardware look, and that look is now very dated. Still, SGS is the best phone spec wise (though iphone may compete, but I don't want proprietary apple or ATT).

You can't make a touch screen phone not looking "like iPhone". They all look the same because they don't have more than a few buttons.

But it is awesome how Jobs can make people think they have actually created something new every time :)

well said and done!!! good job bambiboi!! seriously i hate it when people thinks every touch phone is a rip off from iphone

and i don't know about the NEW iPHONE screen is better than Super AMOLED.... that is not right at all unless we can actually compare and see which one is better but i DOUBT IT!!!
