depends on your conditions for leaving.

I am allowed to leave my plan at any time with no ETF becuase I am in a "dead zone" as classified by verizon. This means i'm technically not in an area that they service although my reception is fine (it's a weak signal but it works)

However I choose not to leave cause It works everywhere else great and they said they are installing a new cell site in my area this summer.

Keep telling yourself that, bud. "can you hear me now?"

LoL SO true of VZW. Our work phones are a year old basic Motorola phone and the manager at my local branch has a BB, our phones show 1or 2bars in the office but rarely do they actually ring before sending the caller into voice mail, which or may or may not get within the following 24 hours. VZW is an absolute joke, the map show all the red and the service is useless. Thankfully we will be switching in a few months, what a joke VZW is.

You'll get a bill, don't worry.

I just got charged today for an ETF since I canceled on 5/15. The sad thing is I canceled that line within my first 30 days but the rep was totally clueless and I brought up their "Worry Free Guarantee" and am getting it credited back. So glad to be over and done with them.

No this was the final pro rated bill my bill is usually $135.00. I'm having no issues at all with Sprint and the 4G service here in Chicago is super fast. As far as the EVO goes its more or less the exact same phone as the Incredible only a bit bigger and with a few more features. Battery life is about the same as the Incredible. It will use gobs of power only when its on the 4G network for some reason so if you really don't need all that speed for what you are doing at the time you can just turn 4G off with a touch of a button. The EVO is fantastic and so far Sprint is servicing me just fine and when im not in a Sprint area I roam free to big red anyway.

wait wait wait......so the HTC rep told you to specifically not buy a first run Evo...and now you did anyway? after 4-5 posts of fussing about the Evo's quality?

lol.

Welcome to the family.

This is true and he seems to have been right in saying so. It seems that HTC puts out beta quality phones at first then as production ramps up makes running changes and improvements. This guy works for HTC I'm sure he knows what goes on there. The same quality issues were apparent with the Incredible first runs also.

Where do you live? My family had Tmo for a long time and your description fits that carrier well, but VZW has 3G everywhere I have been in KY- including wider areas to the east that show no 3G coverage on the map. Seems that if your coverage is so bad with VZW- please note Sprint uses VZW for roaming data (not the other way around), you will be let down. Heck, I get 3G even in basement areas in our work campus, where other's get no signal with carriers.

May be your devices have weak reception and you are upset about the wrong thing.

I mention KY, only because they appear to have one of the weaker coverage areas in the US for VZW, yet I have NEVER lost signal, dropped a call and only went into 1X three times. One of those areas was corrected after updating with *228.

I am a picky SOB too, so I would point out if I have a problem. You may be even more upset if you are getting a device for data, since a lot of areas are 3G for VZW are 1X roaming data for Sprint. Rarely is this the other way around.

added:

Grass is always greener though- regardless of the carrier you use... Nah- all are greener than Tmo coverage, but at least they have good customer service :)
