Noob question about closing apps

Should I use a app killer or not? I see that they seem to be common and highly rated but I've also read posts on other forums saying that they shouldn't be used and Android should be allowed to manage the apps.

Also, I've installed Advanced Task Killer and while it seems to work well, some apps like Moxier Mail open back up with in seconds of being killed.

Lastly, last night I used Advanced Task Killer to close all apps, turned the phone off and put it on the charger. This morning I turned on the phone, pulled down the notification bar and saw about 15 programs waiting to be killed.

Can anybody give a noob an explanation on how Android handles apps, if I should use a app killer and lastly, explain how apps can open on their own.

Some apps auto start on boot up.

Even though the apps have "started" that doesn't mean they are "on" Android handles closing apps on its own. Some people swear by task killer others (me) dont use it.

Android will kill what it needs to to operate. This however can slow the system down. So you could say task killer is helpfull. It can make thing run faster.

Try searching the forum using "kill apps task killer" or other such keywords. You will find alot more info than I can give.

I've been using Advanced Task Manager's auto-end service. It's best to only add things to the list you know can be ended safely as ending some things will cause all sorts of fun. It's really more of a trial and error process figuring it out, but it's definitely rewarding.

Alternatively you can do it manually via ATM's main list itself.

Well I can't take this OS anymore and have turned my old Diamond back on. The Moment is going back since Android is obviously not ready for prime time.

As a previous Diamond user I seriously advise you to reconsider. While Android doesn't have a built-in task manager (and note that WinMo didn't either until HTC and other third-parties furnished it with one), Android has the benefits of many different task managers and the ability to use a swap partition. I seriously believe it's superior to WinMo in multi-tasking in every way. I found my Diamond exceptionally laggy and frustrating (though damn that phone looked good), hence my conversion.
