Now I'm a bit steamed....no phone left behind huh ?

People,

Understand that Samsung has to figure out how to make its TouchWiz interface work with any further update of Android, and quite frankly, whoever invented touchwiz was a dumb ass.

This is how samsung will keep the behold II from being able to get the update, by claiming that the twiz interface is not compatible with android 2.0 (or 2.2).

The only way to win any case here, is to get the behold II running on android 2.o with twiz interface.

but samsung wont release any source code, nor can we get the 2.0 source code.

Not quite, because the galaxy s has touch wiz. They could claim that the twiz for 2.x wouldnt run on the bh2. That might even be true. I that were true, I say they should do a vanilla update (possibly option, maybe people really like touch wiz). That won' happen, but it would be nice. (and just about everyone on here would agree that would be an improvement anyway:) )

As I see it, the lunatic in the video promised us android 2.x...he didn't mention touch wiz coming with it :)

I just can't understand how people are saying "fine, I'll give Samsung a last chance" or "the Galaxy S will be a 'flagship' phone, it will not be left behind".

There are so many good phone options out there and in the end the Galaxy may have a slight hardware advantage but there's no way in hell I'd give Samsung another dime....$450 is enough I think.

Dumped mine on Craigslist last weekend. The guy that bought it basically threw the money and ran like he took advantage of me!

I got the MT3GS over 1 week ago and quite honestly love it. Samsung really made some serious blunders with the BH2 phone... I will NEVER buy another Samsung phone again because of this.

I hope Tmobile learned a lesson from this... The phone had some serious potential too, what a shame!!

The Galaxy S is running TouchWiz 3.0 while the BH2 is running TouchWiz 2.0. So yeah they could say the current TW2.0 isn't compatible with Android 2.X might be a true statement.

I asked them again about upgrades, nothing new, but I thought the 2nd paragraph was interesting:

Samsung Tech Support said:
We want you to know that Samsung appreciates you helping to bring this matter to our attention. Samsung is immediately releasing the following information to clear up any confusion regarding planned upgrades for the Behold II: "Samsung Mobile and T-Mobile USA are planning to update the Behold II to Android 1.6 which provides access to Google Maps Navigation, Google Voice Search capability and quick search box for Android. The update will also supply additional benefits including Swype, an improved Media Player, updated core Android applications and improved Bluetooth capabilities. However, the Behold II is not upgradeable beyond Android 1.6."

Additionally, we are researching any previous statements made about the planned upgrades for the Behold II to rectify misstatements, if any, that may have been made. Please know we review and appreciate comments, positive and negative, made by people like you, our customer, and we take them to heart. Our goal is to always provide the best possible handsets that not only meet but exceed your expectations, both in quality and functionability.

When I asked them about at lease release the source code for the drivers I got:
Samsung Blow Off Support said:
We dont have the code for the drivers to provide.

Well...I've referred this issue to someone at The Consumerist, and they said they would look into it. That being said, I don't know if we'll get any more visibility put out on this. Hopefully, "something" will give, and Samsung will come out and "do the right thing". In the meantime, I think I licked the battery life issue I was having, and so the BH2 is at least stable ( even with the occassional FC ), for the time being.

When I was in tmobile last week paying off the money I owed on the behold2 the rep said he had heard that samsung was going to give all behold 2 original owners $50-100 off their next phone(im assuming a samsung phone) he the added it could be just a rumor, but thats what i heard.

I'll believe it when I see it. And for that matter....why exactly would I want to upgrade to a Galaxy S ? Will it be upgradeable to Froyo ? I can't imagine Samsung would have their FLAGSHIP handset not have something ( and I mean no direct disrespect to any of it's owners here ) that the by ALL accounts, dated MyTouch 3G has ?

I can't see how they could stand to see MT3G's to have 2.2, and their primo handset.....Hummingbird processor equipped, pixel-chomping monster of a processor, forward-facing camera equipped, TWiz 3.0 packin' handset...NOT be upgradeable.

Samsung.....here's a clue....do the RIGHT THING. Give people what they want. Deliver what they need. That's how you get repeat business.
