Hi there,

Hope you can help me. When I transfer HTC Desire videos from phone to computer, I can view the video but with no sound. This also happened with my old Touch HD. The sound works fine on the phone but the problem seems to be with the video. Has anyone else experienced this? It happened on both Windows 7 and XP.

I have noticed the file type is .3gp. Does this need converting or something?

Many thanks!

I am not sure it is the format or the playback problem as I am finding that playback on the desire itself is providing no sound, and surely it should know the format it encodes in...
Do you two have sound when you playback from the desire?

I assume in camcorder settings record with audio id ticked?

Vlc should play everything but has anyone tried downloading new codecs?

I stand corrected... sound works fine on the phone itself, just not on windows media player.

I got more info from vlc though (that doesn't work either), it says:
No suitable decoder found.VLC does not support audio or video format "SAMR."

I did just check for updates of VLC, but it does confirm itself that I have the latest version.

Funnily enough though, it works fine with quicktime player (the horror....), and I suspect it will work the same for you guys.

So I guess it is just a question of having the right drivers. That at least is reassuring. Although never in my life have I found VLC disappointing me before...
