I found out a little more info on Release date and MSRP. I'm also invited to the NYC event!

Basically, the Samsung representative said that the phone is already launched in Europe and is priced at 530 EUR without contract.

You can read the full reply below, but it's pretty much what I've already stated:

BrainLazy.com - smartphone - Samsung Galaxy S

Also, trying to make room in my schedule to go to the event in NYC. But more than likely I will already have the phone. Still I think I should go.

Go and lets us know the deal with it when you get back :)

I would think it would be $200/$300 for the 8GB/16GB respectively WITH CONTRACT. But that's just an assumption. Without contract probably in the $500/600 range for each capacity tier.

As for if this is a public event, I asked about it and she only said that I have been added to the RSVP list.

where does it say it will be 350 $?

i was thining it would cost more than that.. but 350 bucks would be great! LOL

and no im not cheap.. hehe

I am just guessing but also Companies don't normally change the prices to match. Like Ps3 for example when it was released in europe for about 350 euros people in the usa thought oh my word thats gonna be like uber expensive here nope same price except in American dollars. Of course I am talking of the slim ps3.

this is not the only example either. It goes for GB and all that. People think that companies would convert the prices to match but most don't. If something like a laptop in the GB cost 400 pounds at most times it will be $400 in USA not what some would expect like $800 if you convert the 400 pounds to American Dollars.

The Euro is worth more than the dollar. Around 1.2 to 1. So 530 euro would be about $630. At one point the Euro was going 2 to 1.

If a company sells something at 530 euros its most likely going to be sold at $530 in the USA I already gave my example in the previous post as to why I believe this. The past has proven this to be true at most times. I have never seen this theory of mine proven wrong so I will go with my thought and more than likely I will be right.

Of course I will acknowledge that if an american was to buy from a european site it would cost him or her the conversion price but companies don't normally sell at conversion price. as in most likely that 530 euros price will be sold here for $530 American Dollars.
