I just downloaded and installed the Profiles app.. it seems to do what I want except I'm not understanding the "time rules."

I have a profile set to "Church" and I have it set to go into church mode at 10:30am, but I don't see a time mode to have it come back out of church mode say at 11:30. Do I have to manually take it out of a specific profile?

If so, I guess I don't get why they even put that function in there. It's nice that it will automatically go into church mode, but if I have to take it out of church mode by choosing the "normal" profile, it just doesn't make sense.

I really am hoping there is a way to not only have it enter a specific profile set to the time you choose, but also to exit that profile at the time you choose too. Am I missing something?

I dont use it but set another mode called normal to go into that mode at 1130?

Yeah, that's what I thought, but then it doesn't make any sense to have a time rule then, if I have to manually set it. I was just thinking I am missing something.

In the FAQ it states one of the benefits of having the profile is so that you can have it go to a profile at a certain time and come out of it so you won't forget.

This program, the way it stands (because I don't understand how, basically) is useless. I can already set my phone to silence and take it out of silence manually without the program. It's the time rules that supposedly make this app great-- I just don't know how to use it, and there really aren't any good directions.

I dont use it but from what you are saying you dont need to set it manually. You set another time rule up that automatically sets it back to the profile you want at the tim eyou want it to happen.

Eg

profile "Church" starts on Sundays @ 10:30hrs (this profile has all ringers and notifications turned off)

Profile "Normal" starts on sundays @ 11:30hrs (this has everything switched back on)

You manually set this once it works every sunday so you never have to manually set anything.

Thank you Mister. I thought about doing that but was thinking that I have about 4 different profiles set up, so I would have to have a "normal 1," "normal 2," "normal 3," etc., to bring my phone out of silence for each of those rules. That is just too many profiles to have. =/

If I am totally missing the boat, you have to forgive me. I really don't have an analytical mind at all, even the simple stuff. lol. I think I am making this much more complicated than it should be.

You are on the right track. The program as far as I can tell only allows one start time for a profile. So to do what you are requiring you would need a different profile (normal 2, normal 3, etc) to do the job. It will make it easier though if you have your Church profile set at start time, and a Church Ends profile set to normal settings. It will do the same thing as normal 1 normal 2, but will be more descriptive for you. That way you can group them mentally as a start time, and end time for each event.

So...I've switched over to the Inc from a BlackBerry. The one thing I liked was the ring profiles, especially the "phone only" option. Can you set something similar up for the Inc? Leave the phone ringer on, and have the rest be silent?

That's exactly what this app does. It's called Profile and is available in the market. Profile - Android app on AppBrain

It takes a few minutes work to set it up correctly, but I use it every night. I have to have my phone able to ring because my neighbor has her medi-alert panic button set to call my cell phone and I'd feel terrible if I missed a call if she was hurt, but I get all sorts of texts, notifications, etc all the time and I don't want the notifications going off while I'm asleep. I put it in the sleep profile (a profile I created with the app) and just the phone rings.

Awesome dude. Thanks. Not that I ever expect anything its just nice knowing my phone will ring; but an e-mail isn't going to wake me up in the middle of the night.

As another BB user, does this program mandate u to set "times" though? Can't I just manually put it in and out of the profiles?

Does this app work for all notifications independantly? or is it impossible to have complete control over all app notifications in profiles?

After messing around with "QUICK PROFILES" for a short time, it doesn't give you COMPLETE control at all. Example, when I go to sleep at night, I would just like the ringer and text message notifications to be audible, with everything else on silent (emails, etc), but there is no way to do this. "Notifications" seem grouped together in 1 category so they can't be separated.

Unless of course I'm missing something and someone else can shed some light..
